- La actriz Joey King será una nueva meta-humana en la S3 de "The Flash":

La actriz de "The Vampire Diaries" y "Teen Wolf" Susan Walters ha sido escogida para interpretar a la madre de 'Caitlin Snow' en la próxima temporada de "The Flash".

Además de ser la madre del personaje de Danielle Panabaker, la 'Dr. Carla Tannhause' es una ingeniera biomédica de primer orden y CEO de una importante compañía de investigación. Pero aunque Caitlin puede haber heredado la formidable mente científica de su madre, las dos tienen una difícil relación desde hace mucho, con Caitlin encontrando a su madre fría y distante, y Carla pensando que su hija es rebelde y desagradecida.

El personaje fue mencionado por primera vez cuando Caitlin Snow se enfrentó cara a cara con su doble de Tierra-2 Killer Frost, sintiéndose ambas glaciales con respecto a sus madres.

- El actor Grey Damon será 'Mirror Master' en la S3 de "The Flash":

"The Flash" acaba de aumentar su lista de villanos, ya que el actor Grey Damon ha sido escogido para interpretar al personaje de DC Comics 'Mirror Master' en la serie de la CW.

Está previsto que Damon aparezca en el cuarto episodio de la tercera temporada, que se emitirá a finales de Octubre o principios de Noviembre.

Han habido dos importantes 'Mirror Masters' en la historia de DC Comics, pero la serie usará al original, 'Sam Scudder', creado por John Broome y Carmine Infantino e introducido por primera vez en 1959 en "The Flash" #105.

Como informamos anteriormente, la descripción del personaje es la siguiente:

En los cómics, varios grupos de villanos han operado frecuentemente como equipo contra Flash -- pero no hay ninguna indicación firme aún de que eso pasará en la serie, y por el momento tan sólo se ha anunciado a Damon para un episodio, pero la noticia deja más margen a especular con la posibilidad.

- TCA Summer Tour: crossover musical con "Supergirl", villanos, Grodd, Smith y más:

Este jueves se ha celebrado el panel de prensa de la CW en la "Television Critics Association summer press tour" y, en ella, los productores ejecutivos de las cuatro series de la CW de superhéroes — “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow” y “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” — estuvieron presentes para hablar lo que nos deparan las nuevas temporadas de las mismas:


- El Presidente Marc Pedowitz aforma que con cuatro series de superhéroes en la cadena, no están buscando añadir otra, aunque estarían abiertos a la posibilidad de discutir otro spin-off si algún personaje emocionante apareciera en una de las series.


- Se confirma que las nuevas temporadas de "Supergirl", "The Flash", "Arrow" contarán con 22 episodios y "Legends Of Tomorrow" con 13 abiertos a la posibilidad de más.


- Se desmiente que la cadena esté intentando hacerse con los derechos de 'Batman' o 'Batwoman'.


- Las cuatro series compartirán un épico crossover en Noviembre. Una pieza del mismo se produce en "Supergirl", aunque en realidad comienza en "The Flash",


- Kevin Smith regresará este año como director en "The Flash" y además en "Supergirl".


- "The Flash" y "Supergirl" tendrán un crossover propio en forma de episodio musical, que llegará en el episodio 13-14 de ambas series, con un total de dos episodios musicales y que se rumorea que podría dirigir Joss Whedon . Con sus estrellas Grant Gustin y Melissa Benoist habiendo sido alumnos de “Glee,” y una serie de otros miembros del elenco habiendo participado en musicales en Broadway, los episodios musicales no son algo que hayan tenido que pensar mucho los productores. La productora Sarah Schechter ha comentado al respecto que con un elenco tan talentoso que, cuando las series ya no estén en el aire, se habrían arrepentido mucho de no haberlo hecho, además de ser algo muy divertido. 'Alchemy', es un villano clásico y parte de los pícaros de "The Flash, apareciendo pro primera vez en Showcase #13 en 1958. También conocido 'Mister Element', Usa el poder de una 'piedra filosofal' para transmutar elementos comunes mientras lucha contra Flash. Albert Desmond empezó como un hombre que sufría de un desorden de personalidad múltiple, estaba obsesionado con la química y al final y finalmente cedió a su lado criminal.

Creado en el cómics de 1995 "The Flash" (Vol. 2)" #108 por Mark Waid y Oscar Jimenez, 'Savitar' es personaje principal en el arco favorito de los fans "Dead Heat", y también apareció en los cómica de Geoff Johns y Ethan Van Sciver "Flash: Rebirth". In a real-life race, who’d win: you or Teddy Sears, who plays Zoom?
To be honest, I have a feeling I would beat Teddy. He’s an athletic guy, but I think with my being smaller than him, I would smoke him. No one ever wants to race me! [Laughs]

Which DC Comics character would you trade costumes with?
Arsenal. That costume’s dope.

What was the last comic book you read?
All-Star Superman, by Grant Morrison with [artist] Frank Quitely, is in my backpack. I have been traveling with it. It’s really cool.

Have you hidden any personal items on set?
No, not personal items, but no one seems to notice that we have a rubber duck that we’ve fit into almost every single scene in the police station. We have been doing it since early in Season 1. Sometimes it’s in an evidence bag that a cop is carrying.

When you guest starred on Supergirl, did you and Melissa Benoist trade Glee stories?
The Supergirl wardrobe guy also worked on Glee, so the three of us were talking about Glee the entire time!

What do you do during your downtime on set?
During the second half of Season 2, I got into reading other things. I’ve been reading a lot of classics and stuff that’s really far off from The Flash, because it was just so emotional this season. I needed a book to take my mind off things at times.

Best Flash-related item you’ve been given?
One of the coolest things, just for its sentimental value, is that John Wesley Shipp [star of the original Flash series, who plays Barry’s father, Henry] had a custom Flash ring made for me.

Which episode has made you cry the most?
Gosh. The finale. I had to cry the most, because Barry cried the most. I think over the course of time, the Season 1 finale will always be the one that hits the spot.

What was your biggest surprise this past season?
Barry giving up his speed willingly to save Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale). I was surprised he consciously went through with that.

Do you understand any of the time-travel stuff on the show?
Most of it. Maybe close to all of it, I’d like to think. [Laughs]

After two seasons, is kissing Candice Patton (Iris) now like kissing your sister?
A little bit, actually! [Laughs] I mean, kissing scenes in general are technical, but we are close in a way that’s more like brother and sister.

How much trouble is Barry going to be in for going back in time and saving his mom?
I’m going to sit down with the writers before Comic-Con so I have an idea, but at this point I’ve tried not to think about it too much. I’m scared to find out! The beginning of Season 3 is going to be rough, I would imagine.

When The Flash returns for Season 3 on The CW on October 4th, everything will be different, as Flashpoint takes effect. After defeating Zoom, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) made a decision to speed back in time to the night his mother died to stop Reverse Flash from killing her, changing everything in his world. And while that decision brought him the life he’s always dreamed of with his parents, the ripple effect that he’s created seems to have, irrevocably changed his past and redetermined his future.

At The CW portion of the TCA Summer Press Tour, executive producer/writer Aaron Helbing sat down with Collider for this exclusive interview about where things are headed for Season 3, the plan for a lighter tone, the consequences of the Flashpoint universe, this season’s big bads, the WestAllen relationship, and Kid Flash. Be aware that there are some spoilers.


Collider: After how dark things got in Season 2, what can you say about the story you’re telling in Season 3 and where things are headed?

AARON HELBING: Well, Zoom was a really, really dark character. When we introduced his backstory in Episode 218, you instantly understood why he was the way he was, having his mom murdered in front of him. It’s interesting because we got to explore what could have happened to Barry, had Joe not been there, had Iris not been there, and had love not been there. So, yeah, we went to a dark place. This season, we definitely plan on having a lighter tone. Evil is still out there, so you still have to respect that. I don’t think it will be as dark as Zoom. When we meet Barry, he’s living with his parents. I feel like this has been a moment that Barry has been wanting since his mother was taken from him. Who wouldn’t want that? And then, Zoom took his dad last season. So, when you meet him, you see this happiness. He finally is having the life that he’s always wanted, but there’s always a give and take to everything. While he has his parents, he doesn’t have Joe in his life. He didn’t grow up with Joe as a foster father. He didn’t grow up with Iris right there, getting to see her every day. He knew her from grade school, but they didn’t have the same relationship. Those are big differences. He didn’t go to S.T.A.R. Labs and have Cisco and Caitlin and Dr. Wells. These are adjustments that he has to get used to. But, being with his parents overshadows everything.

Will it affect Barry Allen mentally when he realizes just what he’s done?

HELBING: As we explore the Flashpoint universe, he’ll realize that there are consequences to the choices that he made, and he has to deal with those consequences. Every time you make a choice, it can go A or B. And when you make that big of a choice to go back in time, 15 or 16 years, and stop Reverse Flash from killing your mom, there are going to be gigantic ramifications because of that. So, I think Barry is aware of that.

Reverse Flash is going to be taunting Barry for the choices that he’s made. Was it fun to have him come back and make Barry face what he did?

HELBING: Yeah. And when you have someone the caliber of actor that Matt Letscher is, and he’s such a nemesis, he loves it. He hates The Flash. When you look at the history of Reverse Flash in the comic books, he was obsessed with The Flash and wanted to become The Flash, but he couldn’t. He became so obsessed with The Flash that he had to become better than him, or that’s what he thinks. His entire mission in life is making Barry Allen’s life a living hell, even just where Reverse Flash is, being able to taunt Barry as much as he can. He’s just going to say whatever. It’s like, “You’ve got me, but I still hate you and I’m going to do everything I can to make you miserable and to make you believe that the action that you took was catastrophic.”

What can you say about the big bads you have this season and what Barry is facing?

HELBING: I’m really excited about Doctor Alchemy because we haven’t had someone who’s an alchemist. He can take X and turn it into Y. That mirrors what happened with Barry when Barry was just this normal CSI who was happy go lucky, and then he got struck by lightening with the dark matter from the Particle Accelerator. That was almost a form of alchemy, where it changed him into The Flash. We can really explore alchemy, in that manner of being able to take X and turn it into Y, and see how that mirrors what actually happened to The Flash and all of the meta-humans in Central City. We’re going to have a speedster, as well. Savitar is an evil speedster.

Where are things at between Barry and Iris?

HELBING: In the Flashpoint universe, he hasn’t really grown up with her. They’re essentially strangers. She’s someone he used to know, and he’s someone she used to know, back in the day in grade school. It’s exciting because it’s like, “Oh, this is what would have happened, had Reverse Flash not done this and had Barry not become The Flash. He would have been a normal guy, nervous about going up to a pretty girl that he’s had a crush on forever, and get to know her and try to have a relationship with her.” For us, that’s really exciting because we get to explore that.

Is there anything you would say to reassure the WestAllen fans who are nervous about the Flashpoint storyline?

HELBING: Barry Allen and Iris West are an iconic relationship. We set it up, at the end of Season 2, that they were going to get together, and then he undid it. But, these two are destined to be together. I would say to keep watching. As with destiny, things end up playing out the way you hoped they would.

What can you say about Kid Flash and how he’ll be different from other speedsters?

HELBING: The thing about Wally West, and the way we set him up in Season 2, is that he has this need for speed with the drag racing. That’s in his DNA. Even when he stopped drag racing, he’s an engineer who’s trying to design and develop turbo-powered, fast cars. Those aspects are always going to be in his DNA, and he’s always going to want to go as fast as he can. So, when you meet him in Flashpoint, he is The Flash. He’s Kid Flash, but he’s The Flash. He’s a speedster who just wants to do the right thing, but he also is gonna do it his way.

How challenging is it to explore so many different speedsters, and make sure that they’re all different with their own personalities?

HELBING: To me, it’s no different than when you create a new character. They’re still real people at the core, so we dive in and explore who the person is, deep down. The way we explored Zoom was that we dove into who he is and what causes someone to become evil like that and how we can play that. So, with Zoom, we mirrored what happened to Barry’s parents and what happened to Hunter’s parents. That’s really at the heart. We always want to get underneath the character and look at them as real people. They don’t know they’re on a television show. (Executive Producer) Andrew [Kreisberg] says that, all the time. These characters don’t think they’re on The Flash TV series. These are living, breathing characters. So, we have to make sure that we do them justice and bring them to life, the best way that we can.

What is the dynamic between Cisco and Caitlin like now?

HELBING: Cisco is a bit different. The thing about Flashpoint is that, because of these actions, the reality of the world is different. There are different circumstances that create different relationships, and they just weren’t there. I love their dynamic. I love the way Caitlin and Cisco are a pair, and I don’t feel like we’ll lose that feeling.

Executive producer Todd Helbing is aware there's the concern of getting repetitive, but explained to me during a recent interview why it feels important to have a speedster battling out against Barry Allen. He also discussed how Flashpoint will be translated from the comics to the small screen, how Jay Garrick will fit into Season 3 and why he's looking forward to the upcoming Supergirl/The Flash musical crossover. Read the Q&A below:


IGN: Why have one of Season 3's villains be another speedster? Do you think that's sort of ingrained in the Flash DNA? Is it more interesting to you guys when there is a speedster going up against Barry Allen?

Todd Helbing: Yeah, I think in general if you have some of these other meta humans, it gets hard to show how Barry can't get them. If you have another speedster, especially someone like Zoom, or Reverse Flash, you need somebody on an equal level to provide that threat that a lot of these other metas can't do.

IGN: How are you not going to repeat yourself with this because you have had two before?

Helbing: Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way. I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he's all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can't go into super detail, but he's not like Zoom or Reverse Flash.

IGN: How is he going to be complimented by and compliment Dr. Alchemy, who obviously is not a speedster? Are they going to be working in concert?

Helbing: I'll just say that Dr. Alchemy's plan and Savitar's plan are not much different.

IGN: What are you excited about with bringing Dr. Alchemy in?

Helbing: Last year we got pretty dark with Zoom, and I think we want to go back to more of a Season 1 lightness to it. We still need those darker moments, and I think when you find out what Alchemy is doing, it sort of provides that "holy s**t" moment that we really love to have on our show.

IGN: I love that you guys are still going to have Eobard Thawne on Legends of Tomorrow. We got to see the Harrison Wells version of Reverse Flash a lot more when we saw Eobard Thawne in this depiction. Does that open the door for you guys to maybe play around with that and maybe bring him in in some interesting ways, and maybe do some Legends crossovers?

Helbing: Yeah. I think that anytime we can have Reverse Flash on our show -- in a lot of ways, to me, Reverse Flash is my favorite villain.

IGN: Why?

Helbing: Because the psychological torment, and just this whole idea that I need you to sort of exist but in that existence, I'm going to make your life a living hell. For me personally, it's the best version of a villain because it's not only about the powers at that point. That's why we try to get some of the psychological aspect in with Savitar. And Matt Letscher, he's amazing. You have Tom Cavanagh, his performance, which is every time he just knocks it out of the park. And then you have this different version and they're both playing the same guy. Even though they're different, if you were take them and overlay them together, it's like the perfect version. I just enjoy working with Matt so much.

IGN: Reverse Flash is such a big and important part of Flashpoint the comic. How are you going to use Reverse Flash in your story?

Helbing: When he stopped Reverse Flash, he did something with him. You'll discover exactly how Flashpoint is able to exist. Every time we get any of those big, iconic moments in comic books, we have to take it and use the spirit of it, and figure out the way to do that in our show. This is no different.

IGN: When we found out there would be the four series crossover and also Flashpoint, I know a lot of people thought, "Oh, maybe Flashpoint will continue until the four-part crossover, and that'll have something to do with resolving it." Can you talk about why you decided to do it for relatively short period of time? What, three or four episodes?

Helbing: Much like in the Earth-2 episodes, they were fun, a lot of fun, I loved both of those episodes, but we couldn't do a whole half-season in Earth-2. In the same regard, I don't think it would be the best version of the show if we did half the season -- almost the whole season -- in Flashpoint. That said, the things that Barry changed in the timeline really do ripple throughout the whole season. And that's really the depth I can go into. It'll all make sense after you watch the episode.

IGN: What can you tease about the themes or some of the things that Barry deals with that you guys were really excited to get into the kick off this season?

Helbing: The first two seasons are about family. Family that I had, family that I lost. Now this is really the family that I've created. And so, this whole idea that Barry can change the people in his lives that are important to him by going back in time. What Barry is constantly learning is the consequences of his actions. Creatively, it's such a fertile ground to explore what somebody's life would be like if they actually had something that they lost, and what the reality of that is. I think often times as people you think one version would be better -- it's always grass is greener -- but it's always, in Barry's world, the consequences. He's going remember. He's going to know what he's lost at the same time.

IGN: We also learned that Jay Garrick is The Flash on Earth-3 at the end of Season 2. What can you tease of how that will intersect with this season, especially with the Flashpoint complications?

Helbing: Jay Garrick and him are free. Those other Earths aren't affected, much like Supergirl is not affected because she's on whatever Earth she's on. Jay Garrick on Earth-3 still exists as Jay Garrick -- nothing has changed. And I think that now Barry knows where he is, and that there is somebody a lot older than him, a lot more experienced, even though he looks like his father, he's going to use him for advice every-so-often.

IGN: You also have a musical episode coming up, which fans have been asking for for years now. What are you most excited about getting to take advantage of the musical talents in this way?

Helbing: I mean, if we can get a dance sequence in there on top of it, I would love to do that. Listening to Joe as the lounge singer, singing, and to see Grant and he was karaoke-ing first season, and even watching Danielle, not being able to sing ... I'm just really excited, to be honest, to see how it all comes together. I know Greg [Berlanti] is very close to this story. He's been thinking about it -- I don't know how long, probably not just yesterday, you know what I'm saying? He's been percolating. Seeing Jesse sing, seeing Grant sing, it's just one of those -- like whoa, we can totally pull this off. I don't know why we wouldn't do this. Let's go for it. This year in general we're really swinging for the fences.
