"Nuevo proyecto para la CW sobre 'THE FLASH'"

- El crossover de la CW DC TV será una ‘historia de 3 horas’ y empezará en "The Flash":

Cuando las series de DC regresen a la televisión este otoño, la mayoría de ellos podréis encontrarlos en una única cadena – la CW. "Arrow" regresará a la cadena con su quinta temporada, "The Flash" con su tercera, "Legends of Tomorrow" con su segunda y "Supergirl" hará su traslado a la cadena con su segunda temporada, después de haberse estrenado en la CBS.

Con las cuatro series rodándose ahora en Vancouver, emitiéndose en la misma cadena y compartiendo el mismo "multiverso", las posibilidades para los crossover son interminables.

Uno de ellos es el enorme crossover que incluirá personajes de "Supergirl", "The Flash", "Arrow" y "Legends of Tomorrow". Poco sabemos acerca de qué villano será el que una a las cuatro series, o las circunstancias que traigan a Supergirl a la historia, pero Greg Berlanti nos ha dado nuevas pistas al respecto en una entrevista con "IndieWire":

“Realmente estás tratando de dirigir una única producción en tres producciones distintas. Pero funcionan como tres entidades separadas. Tenemos que averiguar cuándo tomamos prestado un actor y de dónde. Estamos contando una historia cohesiva; "Supergirl" participará, pero la historia no empieza activamente aquí. Hay algunos personajes que aparecerán en su episodio, pero la historia empieza con el episodio de "The Flash" y va a "Arrow" y a "Legends of Tomorrow". Estamos empezando a diseñar el villano para ello, y empezamos ahora pero no se emite hasta finales de Noviembre. The third season of The Flash is only TWO WEEKS away, and this year Barry faces a challenge of his own creation: Flashpoint, a world created after Barry went back in time to stop the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother.

To promote the October 4 premiere, we spoke with Executive Producers Todd and Aaron Helbing about the new season, and hopefully some scoops were to be had along the way. We tried to leave no [philosopher’s] stone unturned, though as this interview is long it is spread over multiple pages, so be sure to navigate to read more. Enjoy the interview!

FLASHTVNEWS’ CRAIG BYRNE: What kind of effects might we see from Flashpoint early on?

AARON HELBING (AH): Everything is different. Barry grew up with Joe and Iris, and now in Flashpoint he grows up with his parents, so he doesn’t have that same relationship with Joe or with Iris. He had a schoolboy crush on Iris growing up, and then some time had passed, and so he has to approach her from a different angle. He can’t just be “Hey, Iris. I’m Barry Allen! You know, we used to… oh, right, we didn’t live together because that never happened.” So just their relationship is a completely different experience for him, and it’s a challenge now because he still sees Iris, she’s still beautiful, he still has a crush on her… it’s “how do I now approach this girl who I know all of these things about, but I can’t say anything?”

And he just pretty much had her at the end of Season 2.

AH: Yes! He had her, and I think that goes back to how deep of a loss his mother murdered and then compounded with his father being killed by Zoom… both of them happened in front of him. And so, there’s that hole that he’s been trying to fill and he just hasn’t been able to fill it. It’s not until he goes back and saves his mother that he feels like he can actually fill that hole.

The Flash will change things up in a big way in Season 3 with the Flashpoint alternate timeline, but one thing will remain the same amidst the disturbance: Barry and Iris’ love.

No matter how much the speedster tinkers with the timeline in the premiere episode (airing Oct. 4 at 8/7c on The CW), Iris remains “his constant,” the girl that he pines for in every reality, star Candice Patton (Iris) tells TVLine.

“You’ll get to see Barry try and woo her in Flashpoint,” the actress previews. “It’s really, really sweet. It reminds me of the pilot.”

Beyond the time trip, Barry’s choices will have life-altering consequences for his friends and family, Patton reveals. Read on to find out who’s “different” post-Flashpoint and who remembers what.

TVLINE | Let’s talk about Flashpoint, specifically from Iris’ perspective.
[She] is very similar to all of the Irises you’ve ever seen, and that’s something that we’re trying to make clear on the show. No matter where Barry goes, what timeline, what Earth, Iris is his constant in the world. She’s always the Iris that he loves.

TVLINE | Do we see a different side of her? Do we see other aspects of her that have yet to be revealed in the other timeline?
Well, there are things that have changed. Barry going back in time has changed everything. So everyone’s a little bit different. If anyone is close to who they are, it’s Iris, for sure. But everyone’s been affected. When we come back from Flashpoint, you’ll see that everyone’s life is a little bit different than how we remember it.

TVLINE | What was fun for you in playing that?
The best part of that was playing Barry and me meeting for the first time. It reminds me of the pilot. When you see them for the first time together, there’s something very magical about that, and we recreate that in Flashpoint. [Director] Kevin Smith was talking about it. He said he saw the first episode, and there was something really, really special about it. I would agree. I think fans are going to really enjoy that.

TVLINE | Is Barry the only one that’s aware of the changes?
Barry is aware of changes, and we all slowly become aware of things being different in other timelines.

TVLINE | Last year, there was some discussion that Iris might be needing a little more agency in her life. Do we see that in this season?
I think she’s had it, especially in Season 2. She’s joined the S.T.A.R. Labs team. She’s helping solve meta human crimes in Central City with the rest of the team. Sometimes I feel like I’m in S.T.A.R. Labs more than any other set. So yeah, there’s definitely more of that this season, and I’m always advocating for her to be at Picture News and be the reporter. I think that’s slow going, but I’m hoping for more of that, for sure.

TVLINE | Do we see Iris being connected with any other characters that you haven’t spent a ton of time with in previous seasons?
I don’t know. This season, to me, feels a lot like all of us [are] together all the time. There’s a lot of us in S.T.A.R. Labs, the core S.T.A.R. Labs team, and then there’s me and Wally and Joe. Everyone’s kind of always together as the team. So you’ll see a lot of that. We’re all part of the team.

Tom Felton is coming to The Flash — and EW has an exclusive first look at his debut.

With Tom Felton joining The Flash in season 3, one burning question remains unanswered: How will The CW’s super series now handle Harry Potter jokes? The Flash — particularly when it comes to the Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) character — has always been ripe with pop culture references, Harry Potter being no exception. But now that Felton has been added to the cast as CSI tech Julian Dorn, will that throw a wrench in future jokes about the boy who lived? In short, no!

“Tom Felton is portraying a character on our show — he’s not portraying Tom Felton,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells EW. “Cisco will continue to make pop culture references. We’re, generally speaking, not afraid to have a little bit of a meta-moment.”

In fact, Felton hopes his character is the first to make a Potter joke in season 3. “I’m so excited for the references,” Felton says. “I don’t doubt the talent and creativity of the writers. I’ve got a feeling they’ll come up with some real good ones. I hadn’t thought about me saying it — I assumed it would come at me from Cisco — but maybe I should give it to Cisco. Maybe he should misquote something and I could correct him.”

Though Felton doesn’t appear in the premiere episode, executive producer Todd Helbing teases that he’ll act as a rival, of sorts, for Barry (Grant Gustin) this season. “He’s a direct result of Flashpoint,” Helbing says. “Barry’s had that lab to himself, but now he’s got to share it with this guy, who doesn’t really like him and is kind of prickly.”
