- Productor ejecutivo de "The Flash" detalla los planes del equipo para derrotar a Savitar (comicbook):
Productor ejecutivo de "The Flash" detalla los planes del equipo para derrotar a Savitar
Por Megan Peters - 09/05/2017

Last week, The Flash finally let fans in on one of the show’s biggest secrets. The CW drama had kept fans on its toes over the identity of Savitar, the evil speedster who wants nothing more than to destroy Barry Allen. Unable to stop the baddie, the Flash finally confronted Savitar last week about his true identity, leaving fans to learn the villain was none other than a future version of Barry himself. The revelation has since thrown a wrench into Team Flash’s plans, but the gang is still determined to take down the evil speedster - and Aaron Helbing knows just how they plan to do so.

In a new featurette for The Flash, the executive producer explains the drastic measures Team Flash adopts to help Barry defeat Savitar. In “Cause and Effect,” the group will zap Barry’s short-term memory to prevent him from making new ones which Savitar can learn from. However, the plan doesn’t look like it goes as expected.

“After Barry reveals who Savitar is, the team tries to figure out a way to be ahead of Savitar for once,” Helbing explained. “They decide, ‘Let’s zap Barry’s short-term memory so that Savitar has no memory of what the team did to stop Savitar.’”

The clip shows Cisco flexing his genius IQ as he uses a machine to throw Barry’s short-term memory out of whack. At first, it looks like the plan works as Barry tells the group he feels fine. But, when Iris tries to hold his hand, Barry pulls away from the touch. After being prompted by his friends, Barry eventually admits he’s not sure who Barry is, and Cisco is left bemoaning that the Flash is not actually fine.

- ¿Estáis listos para un Kid Flash Malvado? Keiynan Lonsdale lo está totalmente (decider):
¿Estáis listos para un Kid Flash Malvado? Keiynan Lonsdale lo está totalmente
Por Brett White - 23 Mayo, 2017 a las 3:00pm

You can tell there’s a season finale coming up because things just took a deadly serious turn on The Flash. In last week’s penultimate Season Three episode, the event that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has spent a whole season trying to prevent took place. Here’s a spoiler alert if you aren’t up to speed on The Flash, because the evil Savitar has seemingly succeeded in killing Iris West (Candice Patton). As The Flash races towards its Season Three finale, the show’s heroes look to be at their lowest point ever. Just look at the trailer for the episode, which you can watch below. That’s one somber group of supers!

Ahead of tonight’s turning point installment, Decider spoke with the actor that plays the brother of the dearly departed Iris West: Keiynan Lonsdale. After joining the show halfway through Season Two, Lonsdale’s Wally West has grown into a superhero in his own right over the course of Season Three. But, as we discussed with the Kid Flash actor, sometimes super powers just aren’t enough to save the day.

Decider.com: Last week’s episode, “Infantino Street,” saw Savitar make his move. Wally West was unable to keep his sister from getting abducted (and ultimately killed), and Kid Flash ended the episode with a broken leg and a lost sister. Can you describe Wally’s headspace going into tonight’s finale, and what it was like playing that disappointment and sadness?

Keiynan Lonsdale: It is that, it’s disappointment and being like, “I worked really hard to be able to be capable and fast enough to help the people I love,” and time and time again he feels like he’s failing. He had such an endearing but cocky attitude in the beginning when he got his powers for sure. I think now there’s a lot of lessons to be learned and he’s definitely going through that and realizing that it’s not about how fast you are. The fact that you have powers and you want or that you work hard doesn’t mean you’re going to be the hero at the end of the day. I think it’s something he’ll come back from stronger. But definitely, a bunch of disappointment in himself and lower self-esteem than he had days before.

What’s it been like working on The Flash for a full season and watching Wally West get his own superhero origin story as he transformed into Kid Flash?

It’s been really cool. One of the best things with his character is how much progression there’s been. Also, it was really funny, we only realized I only just really became Kid Flash officially from like, episode 3.10 in season three. We were shooting episode 3.15 and we just felt like I had been Kid Flash forever. We were like, “It’s only been a few episodes.” It’s kinda crazy. It feels really cool and exciting, but it became the new normal to be this superhero. It was fun.

Did Grant Gustin show you the rope at all, since he’s been playing a speedster for a few years now?

It was definitely helpful to have Grant on set with stuff like sliding in, our entrances, and the technical aspects of the suit and stuff. That was really helpful.

What was the process like designing your Kid Flash suit? Did you have a lot of fittings?

I probably only had three fittings, but they knew the design. It seemed they knew the design they wanted pretty quickly. I think they freaked out because I ended up being in Australia and I didn’t know they were bringing Kid Flash on for “Flashpoint” straight away, and so they’re like, “Can you come in for a fitting next week?” I was like, “No, I’m over here.” [Laughs] They had to do a lot of guessing at first, and then a couple days before filming I did the final fitting. It was rushed but also kind of exciting.

So far both Carlos Valdes and Danielle Panabaker have gotten to play villainous versions of themselves. Would you want to play an evil version of Wally West at some point in the future?

I would love to play a villain Wally West. We haven’t seen Earth-2 Wally, so I really really really want to be evil, for like a whole season! That would be so much fun. I’ll definitely drop hints [with the showrunners].

What type of villain would you go for—a Joker type or a Darth Vader type, or something else?

I mean yeah, either of those types would be great. I really loved Reverse Flash from season one. I just thought it’s such an interesting concept to really like the bad guy, and I love when that’s played on really well. I just imagine that was so much fun for Tom [Cavanagh] to tap into and to be this character that is so evil and is plotting, and also have so much love for this person. It’s not so one-dimensional. I think that would be a really cool bad guy to portray.

Tom Cavanagh also gets to play a new version of Harrison Wells every season. What other variations of Wally West would you like to explore, if given the chance?

Definitely, yeah, anything! I was going to say Rebellious Wally but we got that. I would love to see him, just to play around with any character is always fun. To see him in a whole different light, having gone through a whole different experience would be really fun. The possibilities are endless.

Flash is also a family show, in that the characters feel like members of one big family. What’s it been like developing that chemistry with your TV dad Jesse L. Martin and your TV sister Candice Patton?

We actually feel like a family. We go to movies, the three of us, together. We get dinner and drinks together. It’s kind of strange, and that happened really organically. I guess because even in season two a lot of our stuff was together. I think we just formed this really strong bond and thankfully, hopefully it shows on the show. Art imitating life or vice versa.

Both you and Jesse L. Martin are singers. Do you ever harmonize on set?

I definitely choose not to harmonize around them [laughs] because Jesse L. Martin and Carlos [Valdes] and Tom Cavanagh are always singing. Los and Jesse and Tom, they’re all so good at harmonies. I can sing, definitely, but these guys have a theater background and it’s so precise and I just would much rather enjoy when they rock out to what they do, and listen on the side.

There was also a musical episode of The Flash this season. Do you wish you’d gotten to unleash your singing and dancing abilities in that episode?

Hell yeah, of course! I definitely wanted to sing or dance or whatever. Hopefully another one comes in the future, that would be really cool.

The Arrow–verse shows have featured a number of LGBT characters, like Alex Danvers, White Canary, and Mr. Terrific. Do you hope to see more LGBT characters on The Flash as it moves ahead?

Yeah, we have had a few [gay] characters, Pied Piper and Captain Singh. But yeah, I think it’s super important and to continue that in an organic way would be great. I think we do deal with diversity really well on The Flash. It would be good to continue that.

Wally’s also involved with another speedster, Jesse Quick. Most of their romance has taken place off-screen on Earth-2. Do you hope for more scenes with Jesse next year?

Yeah, that would be really awesome. I love working with Violett [Beane]. She’s a lot of fun. It’s always nice having guests on the show because it just brings a new energy in. We really get along.

Lastly, with Season Three almost over and Season Four coming, what do you hope is in store for Wally next year?

I honestly don’t know. This season has had a lot of ups and downs for him, but I think those struggles are really important for defining a true hero. I think to continue that and to see him grow from that and not run away or be disheartened from it, that would be really cool. My favorite scene to play this season was, I think 3.15, when my mom appeared but it was Savitar. More things like that would be awesome. When I was reading it, it was really heartbreaking, but I’m really excited to do this.

More heartbreak!

More heartbreak.
