Eddie McClintock han sido escogido para interpretar el papel del 'Coronel James Harper' para un próximo episodio de "Supergirl".

McClintock, probablemente más conocido por su papel como el agente del Servicio Secreto Pete Lattimer en la serie de Syfy "Warehouse 13", aparecerá en el episodio 1.17 de la serie titulado "Manhunter", según hemos sabido por la descripción oficial del mismo.

En el universo de DC, el 'Coronel James Harper', es un oficial de policía del Suicide Slum de Metrópolis, que se hace conocido como "Guardian", un vigilante que capturó criminales a los que la ley no podía procesar.

The Guardian fue creado por Jack Kirby y Joe Simon, apareceiendo por primera vez en los cómics de Star-Spangled #7 en 1942.

Son buenas noticias para los fans de “Supergirl” y el resto de las series nuevas de la CBS, ya que el Presidente de la cadena Leslie Moonves ha dicho que la CBS planea renovar cinco series de la temporada 2015-16.

Hablando en una conferencia para inversores en Palm Beach, Moonves ha expresado su optimismo por el destino de las nuevas series de la cadena: “Tenemos cinco nuevas series en antena. De las cinco, creo que todas ellas serán renovadas. Y somos dueños de cuatro de ellas,” apuntó en la Conferencia del Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom en Florida.

Eso significa casi con seguridad las renovaciones de “Code Black,” “Limitless,” “Life in Pieces” y “Supergirl”.

El Presidente además ha hablado sobre la parrilla del 2016-2017, declarando que la CBS ha ordenado 17 pilotos para la próxima temporada, pero que cree que “No veréis más que cuatro o cinco nuevas series ordenadas de esos 17ou will not see more than four or five new shows ordered out of those 17... No necesitamos tantos”.

Tonight’s episode of Supergirl, titled “Falling,” will see Kara become infected with red Kryptonite. If you thought the green stuff was bad, just wait until you get a load of what this stuff can do.

“It just takes away her inhibitions, it makes you speak the truth, and sometimes that is not always delivered lightly. She becomes dangerous, and in a way red-Kryptonite Kara is the villain of the piece,” executive producer Ali Adler told us at PaleyFest LA 2016.

Red Kryptonite essentially turns Kryptonians into one of the bad guys. They’re full of hate and rage instead of the hope and light that makes them a hero. It also makes Kara really, really cruel to her loved ones.

“She's a lot more fun,” joked David Harewood, who plays Hank Henshaw, aka J’onn J’onzz the Martian Manhunter. “She says what she thinks, she speaks her mind, and even Hank is thinking about taking her out. It's a great episode. I think it's going to be funny and I think people are going to be thinking, 'Can she really say that?' because she really lets people have it.”

I got to see the episode early, and while Harewood is right that the shocking things Kara does earns some laughs at first, things quickly get serious when it becomes clear just how dangerous an evil Supergirl can be.

“Do not get in her way when she has red Kryptonite,” James Olsen Mehcad Brooks said. “She becomes kind of like Bizarro-Kara basically [not to be confused with the actual Bizarro-Kara from a few episodes back]. She says things she doesn't mean. She kind of becomes a ‘Mean Girl.’ Because Melissa [Benoist] is so sweet and so nice, it's funny to watch her say certain things and we would cut and she would feel bad about saying it.”

Those who read the comics will know that Kryptonite doesn’t stop at green and red. There’s blue, yellow, pink, and a whole lot more. Could we see even more shades of radioactive rock in the future?

“There's literally a map that you get from DC and they tell you it's all the colors of the rainbow and then some, so yeah, we hope to be around for a long time, I hope we get to use them all,” Adler said.

Only two weeks remain until Supergirl gets a helping hand from The Flash, when the CBS drama’s March 28 episode marks its first crossover with a CW comic-book series.

But if you’ve never watched an episode of the Grant Gustin starrer, or you haven’t spent any time in National City, fret not: Supergirl‘s producers say you won’t need to binge-watch either series before the team-up.

“Obviously, you have to understand the concept of superheroes and that they can have all sorts of different kinds of powers when [The Flash] shows up,” EP Greg Berlanti told TVLine on Sunday prior to Supergirl‘s PaleyFest panel. “People will appreciate how he gets [to National City] and their journey that they take in the hour.”

Supergirl The Flash CrossoverAs previously reported, The Flash will arrive on Supergirl’s turf from an alternate universe and, in exchange for a way home, helps her battle not one but two adversaries: Silver Banshee (the alter ego of Cat Grant’s assistant, Siobhan Smythe, played by Chasing Life‘s Italia Ricci) and returning baddie Livewire (True Blood‘s Brit Morgan).

“It is the most joyous occasion to have these two superheroes together in the same place, at the same time, working together,” star Melissa Benoist effuses. “They are both so happy with their powers and what they get to do and how they get to help people, that it’s kind of infectious and exciting and upbeat and happy.”

But not everyone will be so thrilled to see the Scarlet Speedster in town. According to executive producer Ali Adler, although the two heroes enjoy “quite an adorable banter” and “immediately click,” that won’t please the newly single (and still-interested-in-Kara) James Olsen.

“We have this little rivalry, because he’s a superhero, too, and kind of hitting on my girl a little bit,” Mehcad Brooks shares. “I’m like, ‘Damn you, Barry.'”

Given the chemistry between Benoist and Gustin, Adler admits she and the producers have mulled other comic-book crossovers, depending on how successful Supergirl‘s meet-up with The Flash turns out.

“We really had an amazing time making it,” Adler says. “It was tough to juggle people’s schedules. The Flash is a busy man, but in success, we’d love to do this again.”

It’s the beginning of the end for Siobhan Smythe.

When Supergirl returns on Monday, the CBS super series’ new addition will take a step toward fulfilling her comic-book destiny that will eventually transform her from Kara’s rival and CatCo mean girl to full-on villain Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci).

“The evolution itself is actually pretty quick,” Ricci tells EW. “You’re going to know more of Siobhan than you will of Banshee, but you will understand fully how and why she becomes the Banshee and whether or not she chooses to remain the Banshee or change, because she’s able to do that.

“I think they do a really good job with telling that story in a way that keeps her honest and doesn’t paint her as a one-dimensional villain,” Ricci continues. “You can see that there is still a good person somewhere in there; it’s just she’s choosing to put her away for now.”

The evolution really gets thrown into focus on Monday, when Kara (Melissa Benoist) is exposed to red Kryptonite, causing her to act without abandon. “Kara starts it,” Ricci teases. “She does something that is so unlike Kara, and then that makes Siobhan do something equally as classless. Then something else happens where Siobhan is the one that gets in the most trouble for it, and it ruins the most for her. She loses the most out of this rivalry, and so, because of that, she has such a hatred toward Kara and such a fury, and that is what sort of acts as the catalyst to bring out the curse.”

Suffice it to say, the curse may dampen the budding relationship between Siobhan and Winn (Jeremy Jordan). “I don’t think he’s going to feel very good about it,” Jordan says. “We start to see the Silver Banshee come to life in the next few episodes. I do think Winn still wants to find the humanity in Siobhan, no matter what’s happened to her. He’s the only one that can get through to her.”

Whether he can, however, remains to be seen, but Ricci is hopeful Siobhan can be redeemed. “I think they’ve written her, and you’ll see over these episodes, in such a way that it wouldn’t be unbelievable for her to turn good, and in the comics, she does,” Ricci says. “She ends up best friends and roommates with Supergirl. That being said, I don’t think this is a spoiler, but Banshee never finds out that Kara is Supergirl. So that’s another thing that could be explored maybe later down the line.”

Unfortunately, Siobhan really will tap into her dark side before then, looking to Livewire (Brit Morgan) as an ally in the upcoming Supergirl-The Flash crossover. “It’s so fun because Banshee has the confidence that Siobhan has, but not nearly as much as you need to be a villain,” Ricci teases. “So Livewire takes her under her wing and gives her the boost, and the looks, and the confidence that she needs to really excel as Banshee.”

Those looks aren’t easy to come by, however. It takes about five hours to to transform into Silver Banshee, which includes prosthetic cheekbones, the wig, special contact lenses and a lot of white and black makeup. “The contacts are the least comfortable part of the process, but they are the coolest, so they’re worth it,” Ricci says.

There was one thing that came through loud and clear at "Supergirl's" inaugural PaleyFest panel -- with only a handful of episodes left in her freshman TV season, it really will take a Girl of Steel to handle everything coming Kara Danvers' way.

CBR News was on the red carpet at the Los Angeles-based television festival to speak with the CBS series' cast and creators. And one message came through loud and clear: even with 16 of the show's 20 episodes having already aired, there's still a whole lot of story ahead before the season finale.

First up is the much-anticipated DC crossover episode, in which Kara encounters a parallel-universe-hopping fellow superhero for the first time in the form of "The Flash's" Barry Allen, as played by Grant Gustin. Executive producer Greg Berlanti -- who also heads up all the DC Comics superhero-derived series on The CW -- revealed that while the original plan was to let Supergirl fly solo for her first season, developing a cross-network, cross-series event proved just too fun to resist.

"We always said to everybody, we're going to let the first half of the year kind of settle and just let 'Supergirl' get out there and be its own thing," Berlanti told us. "Then, as Christmas approached, we knew we'd be running out of time. I think it was January that we went in for our pitches for the back half of the year. That was the top of our list.

"We wanted to talk to Grant about it, see if he was cool, and he was great," Berlanti continued. "He had to do everything he did on 'Flash,' work some weekends and then shoot down here twice to cover for us. So it's certainly a nice deed that he's going to do that for us. It would be the same thing if Melissa [Benoist] was kind enough to go up there."

Ali Adler, executive producer and co-creator, doesn't rule out further trips to alternate Earths in Supergirl's long-term future, either. "I think that it more resides in 'The Flash' territory," she admits, "but we used it once, and if successful, we like to divert our pen back in the well.

The show's leading lady, Melissa Benoist, says the show has certainly put Supergirl through her paces, and she's been surprised at how much Kara has evolved since the start -- and how ready she is for even more dangerous adversaries ahead.

"Kara has changed so drastically from the pilot, and she's really come into her own as a hero," says Benoist. "Now, she's ready for these epic villains, and the proportion of what she's up against is so large. But I think it will be really fun for people to see how she handles it. "

One of those "epic villains" is the Silver Banshee, the next evolution of Kara's workplace nemesis Siobhan Smythe, played by Italia Ricci. That's not the best news for Winn Schott, who's just started dating Siobhan, but actor Jeremy Jordon hints that Siobhan's transformation may have a silver lining for his character.

"[Winn] sort of is forced to become this voice of reason for this otherwise not very nice person who's dealing with a lot of stuff and taking it out on other people," says Jordan. "He's kind of the one that's most able to break through and cut through that. He realizes that about himself. We see him kind of be a little heroic."

Viewers are used to heroism from the Martian Manhunter, in both his true form, and his adopted guise as DEO head Hank Henshaw, but actor David Harewood's excited to play the original Henshaw, in all his glorious nastiness. "My favorite character of the whole thing is the real Hank Henshaw. He's an absolute psycho, but he's great fun to play! I'm looking forward to people seeing the real Hank take on the Martian Manhunter."

Amid all the action, Supergirl's love life is about to heat up, too, now that one apex of the romantic triangle between Kara, Lucy and James Olsen has been removed from the equation with Lucy having dumped Superman's pal. "James and Kara get a lot closer, I think in ways that will make the fans happy," teased Mehcad Brooks. "I can't say too much about it, but, yeah: with one door closing, another one opens!"

And there's even more plot twists and new characters ahead, with comics stalwarts Jim Harper, aka The Guardian, and Richard Malvern slated to appear before season's end. "There's a lot of questions that we have about how characters came to be," hints Adler. "I think we're going to get some satisfying etymology out of those stories. We have flashbacks, and we'll see some people that we've seen before that we hope to give you some answers for."

As the creators look ahead to a hoped-for-but-as-yet-unconfirmed second season, Adler promises that even the quaintest and quirkiest elements of Supergirl yore are on the table for story fodder.

"Comet the Superhorse, Streaky the Supercat -- we love them all," says Adler. "I think that we just hope to continue with this tremendous cast and make episodes for many years to come. We'll exploit every little thing, I promise. We'll get in there and turn it on its head and try to make something. I mean, we've talked about Streaky. So yeah, definitely we'll embrace all the canon."
