Arrow fans needn’t worry that the coming together of Olivier and Felicity will affect the superhero drama’s path.

Speaking with co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim at the CBS/Showtime/The CW TCA press tour party on Monday night, TVLine relayed several of our hopes for Season 4 (as detailed in the slideshow below). Here is what Guggenheim had to say regarding three specific Arrow points:

CUPID’S ARROW | Whereas Vlada Gelman and I expressed the wish that the new Oliver/Felicity romance almost be “incidental” to the weekly goings-on inside the Arrowcave, Guggenheim used the word “organic” to describe the impact. “The show is still the show,” he maintained, adding that “body language” will more often than not take the place of more overt indicators. “Like, when Oliver and Felicity are together at her workstation, now he’s got his hand on her shoulder,” he shared as one example. “It’s a difference of degrees. Basically, we’re treating them like two coworkers who started dating.”

‘FUNNY’ FELICITY IS BACK! | Over the course of investigating Sara’s brutal murder, coupled with Oliver’s own “death” and then his journey to become Ra’s al Ghul, Felicity’s spark had far fewer chances to shine in Season 3. “The show got really, really dark last year, and I think she reacted accordingly,” Guggenheim acknowledged. “Certainly no one was more tired of the crying than Emily [Bett Rickards], but right behind Emily was the rest of us.” But with love now in her life and picking up five months after the events of the finale, viewers can count on reuniting with the “strong, capable, funny Felicity… we know and love,” the EP assured.

FLASHBACK TO BASICS | On the issue of flashbacks — TVLine had pointed out that Oliver’s Hong Kong escapades weren’t nearly as compelling as his island or freighter adventures, nor did they strongly synch up with the present-day arc — Guggenheim met us halfway. “I’ll be honest: The episodic connection, week to week… that cart started to drag the horse for me a bit,” he admitted. “So toward the end of last year I said to the writers, ‘What we really need to do is not worry so much about the connection between present and past and just tell a really amazing story in the past.'” As a result, the Season 4 flashbacks, which kick off in Coast City but then head to a destination being kept under wraps, have Guggenheim “really happy.” As he raved, “I feel like we have our best flashback story ever.”

The revelations and teases we've seen for the fourth season of "Arrow" have already promised to place a lot of new bolts in the show's arsenal. But now, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim offers a deeper peek into the quiver -- including some pointed info about the show's forthcoming sister series, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

At The CW's summer party for the Television Critics Association, Guggenheim joined CBR News and E! Online for a revealing round of questions focused on the extensive string of casting news coming out of the series lately and confessed that the upcoming spinoff series is "the craziest show I've ever been involved with."

[Editor's Note: At the time of this conversation, news of Matt Ryan's guest stint as John Constantine had not been announced]

The news that broke today about casting Oliver's past love interest, Elysia Rotaru…

Marc Guggenheim: I got a lot of Tweets on my timeline. People tagging me, saying basically to people who were upset, "Read deeper into the article." A lot of people didn't get to the "flashback" part and they lost their minds.

How much do the show's 'shippers influence you, cause you to reconsider whatever relationship plans you might have cooking?

Ooh, I love these questions, because what's great about that question is, there's no good answer. There's no answer I can give that won't get me in trouble. The only thing I can say, or the only thing I'm willing to say, is that we did not get Oliver and Felicity together because of the 'shippers. That, quite frankly, we did that because of the chemistry between Emily and Stephen, and we kept writing towards that chemistry.

And then we reached the point where we were like, "Wow, we're writing towards it. We've got to pick a horse -- or not pick a horse. We've got to do something here. Either that relationship is going to go forward or it needs to stop." But it really was -- we wrote to what we were seeing on the screen in the dailies. And I know there will be some people who are upset with me. But at the very least, it has the virtue of being true.

I mean, Felicity was never part of the original plan of the show. She was supposed to be a one off. Had we cast anyone other than Emily Rickards, she would have been a one off. And we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. But one of the great things, I feel, about television as opposed to a feature is you have an opportunity -- week in, week out -- to respond to what your actors are giving you.

I mean, we write so far ahead of broadcast, particularly in the first half of the year, it's impossible to respond to the fans. It's actually one of the frustrations we have. We're doing stuff now. We don't know what's going to play and what's not going to play. The only thing we can respond to is what we're seeing in the dailies. And you write towards that, or you write away from that, depending upon what's working and what's not working.

Let's talk Rutina Wesley -- that's a good get!

She's a wonderful get, and I want to say publically: God bless her! We had some scheduling issues. She was really flexible, and she really did us a solid here. And we're incredibly excited. Everyone moved heaven and earth to make the scheduling line up, and it's going to be awesome. I'm really excited about the character she's playing, and I'm excited about the storyline that we've got planned.

Any teaser? Is she from any comic book source?

Her character is named after a character called Lady Cop, who is a lady cop. We're just using a character name, Liza Warner. We're not going to call her Lady Cop, but she will be a female cop.

Can we talk about the flashbacks? Are we going to see some comic book heroes in them that have a tie to the present day?

Well, I'll tell you, one of the things that we're trying do with the flashbacks this year is, we want the flashbacks to tie into the present day in a different way than they typically have in the past. In the past, it's always been someone from the -- in previous seasons -- from the flashback showing up in the present day. And we're going to try to create a different kind of connection between flashback and present day story, rather than go to that well all the time.

Anarky will be appearing, the latest example of a character brought over from the Batman mythology. How much fun is it be able to do that, given that in the comics Green Arrow doesn't have the deepest bench of villains?

I will say that Green Arrow doesn't have a villain's bench. At best, they have a villain's love seat. It's really small. And big props and thanks to Geoff Johns, who sort of manages the DC properties and sort of tells us, "Hey, this person's available. This person's not," for getting us Anarky. Because it's hard. Basically, Green Arrow's got, like, maybe Merlin -- used him. And Vertigo -- used him twice. So we really have needed access to the other DC characters.

And Anarky, he's a fan favorite, actually, of a lot of the writers on the show, including me. If you actually even go back to episode 1.18 of "Arrow," we had a graffiti on the subway. And as the subway comes towards the camera, you see it's the Anarky symbol. So this character's been someone who we wanted to use for a while, and we're really excited.

How are you tweaking him for the show?

The take is very similar to Arrow. We wanted to see the evolution of a bad guy, the evolution of a villain. A lot of times on our show, the villains sort of come to us pret a porter. They're fully formed. This is a little bit more of an origin story, and that's why we have Alex [Calvert] booked for multiple episodes, because we're going to see the evolution. When you first see Anarky in episode 4.02, Anarky is not Anarky. He's Lonnie Machlin from the comics. And you'll see the events that will lead him to become Anarky. We wanted to really play out that origin story.

We haven't seen any long-term effects for Thea coming back from the dead yet. How are we going to see her being affected?

We're really getting into that in the first half of the year. We're going to face it head on, and you're going to see it very directly. And it's become an important story point as we move forward. And then the explanation of why we haven't seen anything since 3.20 until Season Four will also be explained.

How does the new love interest for her [Parker Young as Alex Davis] play into that?

I would say it complicates things a great deal.

How will her journey out of the Lazarus Pit differ from the White Canary's?

There will be some similarities because they have some very obvious parallels. They were both in the Pit, so they're going to be dealing with similar consequences. At the same time, one was dead and the other one wasn't. So it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but there's definitely some points of comparison the two of them will have.

"Legends of Tomorrow" looks like it's going to be the most "comic book" of all the shows because you have access to your universe, the DC canon, time travel -- and you can just mash it all up.

I have to be careful, because the nature of the Internet is, "Marc says that all the DC characters are fair game on Legends!" And then I get an angry phone call. I will say that it's certainly the craziest show I've ever been involved with. I mean, the show is nuts. It's got time travel and superheroes and super villains. It's a great deal of fun. And we always try to write and produce these shows for people who love the comics but also for people who don't read comics.

And I think the challenge of the show is -- and we said this with "Arrow" back four years ago -- we know people who love the comics and who are going to want to see the show. No one's ever done a superhero team-up show on television before. So I figure they're okay. We also have to make sure that people -- what makes "Flash" and "Arrow" successful is because it appeals to people who don't just read the comics. And "Legends" has to attract that same non-comic book fan audience.

What prompted going with villains alongside the heroes?

I think it's a combination of a couple things: first of all, when you've got Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell and you don't use them, that's, like, criminal. That's really what's criminal. Like, you've got to make use of those guys. But also, it's the virtue of having these X factors, these monkey wrenches in the works. It makes the whole situation very unpredictable.

And the show is so much richer for having these two guys in this group of superheroes. It's almost like, if you did Avengers but you made Loki an Avenger. Can you imagine how much fun that would be? And that's what it is. It gives you so much more story to tell. So you've got great actors, and you get a chance to use them in a way that is so interesting and so challenging.

You've got their new "Prison Break" schedule all worked around yours?

You know what it is. I know what our production schedule is, and I assume that the Prison Break's been handled. I'm a huge "Prison Break" fan. I'm thrilled. I can't wait.

How ambitious are you guys, as far as the amount of shows you might want to have on the air at any given time?

Well, I can only really speak for myself, and the fact that I'm only involved with two of the many, many, many shows. So I'm comfortable. I'm working hard, and I don't sleep a lot, but I'm comfortable. The thing Andrew [Kreisberg], Greg [Berlanti] and I are always saying is: each of the shows just has to feel different. That's the most important thing.

It's like, what's great about "Flash" is it's very different from "Arrow." No one's going to tune into "Flash" thinking that they're watching an episode of "Arrow." Similarly, no one's going to tune into "Legends" thinking they're watching an episode of "Flash." So the shows just have to feel different and be different. And then, it's up really to the audience to tell us how much is too much.

Is there something that you've learned from "Arrow" that you're going to apply to "Legends"?

That's a great question. In the case of "Legends," it's particularly true. There's a lot of, like, production tricks and stuff that we've learned that we apply, but you can do all these things to make the shows look epic and be amazing and feel like little movies. But if the characters aren't coming across as characters, if it's just gimmicks and plot, the audience tunes out.

Like, on "Legends," they'll come for the spectacle and fun of seeing all these characters on the screen together, but they're going to stay because we have the likes of Victor Garber and Wentworth Miller and Brandon Routh and everyone bouncing off of each other, and getting to know those characters.

Any comic book work ahead for you?

Yes, thank you for asking! I've got a few things. Thank you, I can always count on you! Right now, I'm writing "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," something that can only happen in comics, for Marvel, and I'm really having fun with that. Actually, I came up with what I thought was the coolest twist. I wanted to come out of the gate with something really surprising and just a dynamic you would never expect. And I wrote it. And then I got word that actually, "S.H.I.E.L.D." was doing it on the show, so I had to change it! So I'm doing that.

I've got two creator owned comics coming out. I've got one called "Stringers." "Stringers" is a comic book about video freelancers. Kind of like the movie "Nightcrawler" but nothing like the "Nightcrawler" because it's funny and a thriller. It's everything "Nightcrawler" isn't. And that's for Oni Press. It's coming out August 26.

And then September, from Legendary, I have "The Infinite Adventures of Jonas Quantum." And Jonas is like a new kind of hero. He's basically like I'm trying to create a new James Bond, a new Indiana Jones, a new kind of superhero -- this superhero, whose super power is he's the smartest guy in the world. And I just turned in the script for the fifth issue, and it's easily, of over ten years of writing comics, the craziest issue I've ever written of anything. So I'm very excited. I was really proud of it because it's like, "Okay, this is completely insane." And I think it's going to be great.

The fourth season of Arrow is less than two months away, and earlier this week at the CBS party at the Television Critics Association press tour, we tracked down Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim to find out some scoop on some of the things that have been announced in recent weeks – from Oliver’s new code name through to new additions like Curtis Holt. We also ask about Quentin Lance’s reaction to Sara being back among the living.

Be warned that spoilers are being discussed.

GREENARROWTV’s CRAIG BYRNE: Oliver is going to be the Green Arrow now. Can you tease anything about how that comes about, and if his attitude as a crimefighter will change?

MARC GUGGENHEIM: That’s definitely the thesis statement of episode 401, the season premiere. He can’t be the Arrow anymore, because everyone believes that Roy Harper was the Arrow, and Roy Harper is dead, at least as far as everyone believes. So, he had to adopt a new identity. All of this is explained in the season premiere; we come straight out with it.

John Diggle has a uniform of some sort coming. Is there a code name to go with it?

Eventually, yes. That’s an exclusive. I’m not going to reveal the code name yet.

He’s not going to be the Guardian or anything like that?

No. He won’t be the Guardian.

We’ve always said Diggle’s comic book trajectory is Diggle. DC Comics has put John Diggle in the comics. We’re going to give him a code name out of practicality. I can’t tell you when it’s going to happen, because every time I write it, I end up taking it out, because it feels forced. I need to find the right moment for it. But we have the code name, DC’s approved it… but it’s unique to Diggle, and that’s what I like about it.

What can you tell us about Curtis Holt and what he adds to the show?

First of all, Echo Kellum… you can’t talk about Curtis without talking about Echo. He’s amazing. He is such a find. He’s so great. It’s very reductive to call him “the male Felicity,” but he has that kind of quality.

Does he give the show a shot in the arm the way Felicity gave the show a shot in the arm in Season 1?

I feel like he kind of does. I think, to me, the real revelation of Echo’s performance is he’s another smart guy working at Palmer Tech. It would be very easy for him to come off like a knock-off Ray Palmer, but he doesn’t. He’s his own guy; his own character, and that, to me, is the part that’s really exciting.

How might Quentin react if and when he finds out that his daughter is alive, again?

Well, he’s definitely going to find out, because the one thing that our characters do do, is they make a lot of mistakes, but they learn from the mistakes, and Laurel is not going to make the same mistake twice, of not telling Lance what’s going on.

As part of The CW portion of the TCA Press Tour, there was a compelling panel entitled “Running the Show: The Women Executive Producers of The CW,” with Arrow, The Flash, The Vampire Diaries, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, Reign and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend all represented. After the panel, Collider got the opportunity to sit down with Arrow EP Wendy Mericle to chat about what’s to come in Season 4 of the hugely popular series.

During this exclusive interview, Mericle talked about female representation on Arrow, collaborating with the teams at The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow on character cross-overs, what sort of threat Damien Dahrk (Neal McDonough) will be this season, the challenge of getting John Constantine (Matt Ryan) on an upcoming episode, Team Arrow dynamics, how Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are doing, whether Diggle (David Ramsey) gets a code name, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) as Ra’s al Ghul, what’s next for Thea (Willa Holland), and the addition of Mr. Terrific (Echo Kellum).

Collider: Since we’re celebrating the voice of female executive producers on The CW at TCA, how do you feel about the female representation and viewpoint on Arrow?

WENDY MERICLE: It’s interesting, having been on this show from the beginning, I can testify to the fact that I’ve been on a lot of shows with Greg [Berlanti] and, unlike some shows where you’re the only woman in the room or the only female writer on staff, that is not the universe that Greg operates in. I’ve always been on 50/50 split staffs and the female perspective has always been valued, in whatever show he does. Coming onto this show, I’m not a comic book fan, but I’m a big fan of women kicking ass, so it’s exciting to me. We actually have a lot of strong female characters on our show, which is not that common. It’s not just Felicity, and it’s not just Thea. On other shows, maybe the sister character wouldn’t have gone on to be in costume. In fact, sometimes we say, “Oh, my gosh, everybody is getting a costume! What are we doing?!” In the landscape, when you look at television, I can think of a few other shows, Alias being one of them, but you’re hard-pressed to find women out there really fighting. It’s a privilege. Speedy and Laurel Lance, in particular, have a deep mythology, and that part is really cool.

This world keeps getting bigger, with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. How do you decide where a character starts and who gets to pick the version of the character that we see?

MERICLE: Because of the universes are so complex and, with the exception of Supergirl, we’re all very keyed into what the other is doing, we’ve actually cast certain writers with tracking. We actually get all of the episodes and we read all of the episodes. What’s really important, especially when you get to those cross-over episodes, is that you know where everybody is, not just on Arrow, but everybody in the universe, so that you can tell the right story. That’s when it gets complicated. Sometimes where Oliver needs to be may fight with where Barry is, and vice versa.

How does it work with a character like Hawkman, who you’re introducing on an Arrow/The Flash cross-over, and then moving over to Legends of Tomorrow?

MERICLE: In that case, that is very much Phil [Klemmer], Greg [Berlanti] and Marc Guggenheim’s decision. On Arrow, we don’t necessarily participate in those discussions. In terms of Damien Dahrk, we had endless very intriguing discussions about who Damien is in the comic books, and how we change him and make him a part of our universe. That part is really fun. It’s great to have a starting point, and then figure out how to make them different. That’s exciting.

What sort of threat will Damien Dahrk be, this season?

MERICLE: He is definitely a super bad-ass, scary guy. We really were excited that we got Neal [McDonough]. We’ve had Malcolm and we’ve had Slade. If you start to break it down, they’re the villains, but they’re the heroes of their own story and you understand why they’re doing what they’re doing. Damien doesn’t have that. Damien is just pure evil. We wanted to explore that. We’ve never really done a sociopath on the show, and that’s what we’re exploring this year. That’s why we’re introducing him so fast and early in the season.

How long have you been working to get John Constantine onto Arrow, and was it a challenge to make that happen?

MERICLE: I wouldn’t say it was a challenge. It is tied to Sara Lance’s resurrection. We knew that Sara had died at the beginning of Season 3 and that she was going to be on Legends, so we had to find a way to bring her back. We were like, “How do you do that?,” and he was the most obvious character to do that. We feel honored and excited that we got him, and that Matt Ryan is available. He’s amazing.

Was there a Plan B for that storyline, if that hadn’t all worked out the way it has?

MERICLE: There is always a Plan B. That said, we really pulled out all the stops. DC and everybody came together to make it happen. We didn’t have to go to Plan B, but you always have to have a Plan B, and then a Plan C sometimes, too. You just don’t know, especially with something that high-profile and challenging. It’s great.

What can you say about the Team Arrow dynamic for this season, especially with some of the hurt feelings?

MERICLE: Dig has a huge bone to pick with Oliver when they see each other again, at the top of Season 4. We’re gonna work that out. It’s not gonna be easy. With what happened to Dig’s family, it’s really tough to buy that back, and Oliver is not gonna to be able to. Obviously, they can’t be mad at each other forever, or what are we doing? But also, in the intervening months while Oliver has been gone, Dig has, more or less, been leading the team. It’s a little bit more democratic, Speedy and Black Canary are both super bad-ass and kicking butt. He’s not happy, when he and Oliver meet again. It’s not an open-armed, “Hey, buddy, all is forgiven,” reunion.

Up until now, Oliver has not been happy with Laurel and Thea out there fighting bad guys. Does he have to get more on board with that, at this point?

MERICLE: Yeah, he does. And it’s helpful that he comes back in a much happier place. When he left the team at the end of Season 3, he specifically said, “You guys can do this.” At that point, we put to bed any concerns he might have about safety. He’s not stopping Laurel from doing anything. He tried, countless times, in Season 3. It didn’t work. And Thea has always done whatever she wants to do, including taking drugs and driving herself into a tree, like she did in Season 1.

Where will Oliver and Felicity be when they come back and have to be outside of their own little bubble?

MERICLE: They come back in a happy place. One of the things that we’re excited about is that we really want to explore them being together and in a good place, at the top of the season, but there are challenges. It’s not going to be easy. We’re interested in seeing how the relationship weathers those storms and how they influence the people around them. Oliver is in a much happier place. He has renewed faith. His returning from being a soldier of war with PTSD has all been closed off and finished, by the end of Season 3. He’s done dealing with his family’s legacy and is really looking towards what his is going to be. That’s an interesting, different place for him to be.

What are the biggest challenges now, for Oliver and Felicity?

MERICLE: It’s dangerous. They’re both soldiers, essentially, just in different ways. She’s a bad-ass on her own. She’s been attacked and she’s put her life at risk. The other piece of it is, how do you maintain any sense of normalcy? Any couple that works together, I don’t know how they do that. Everything you have at home comes into the workplace. Hopefully, we’ll have fun with that, this year. If they’re having a fight, how will the team members react?

Will Felicity get out in the field and get in on the action again, at all?

MERICLE: It’s a challenge, just because we’ve established her as such a smarty pants who’s vital to their missions, in terms of her hacking skills. That said, we’d all love to see her out in the field. I don’t think she’ll ever be out in the field in the same way that the other team members are, but I would love to see her in action, and I think everybody on the staff would, too. There will be a little bit of that, this season.

Now that he has a suit, will Diggle also get a code name?

MERICLE: By necessity, he can’t be Diggle out in the field. I can’t tell you what the code name is, but he’s gonna have a fun, cool code name. He’ll start to embrace a little bit more of that dual identity conundrum that Oliver has been grappling with for three years now.

Will Malcolm Merlyn being Ra’s al Ghul work to Team Arrow’s advantage, or is Malcolm still out for Malcolm?

MERICLE: That is the million dollar question for all of the Malcolm stuff. Does he keep his promise at the end of Season 3 to Oliver, or does he come back and jack things up? What we like about him and what we are really excited about is that he’s gotten what he wanted. He wanted to be Ra’s. He really wanted that ring and that power. He went back and forth, in terms of being allied with the team and not allied with the team, in Season 3. He was obviously playing a longer game, at that point, but he’s won that game. So, I think we’re going to see a little bit more of that Season 1 Malcolm, which was ruthless and more cunning and definitely more out for himself.

Will Malcolm also have to deal with Damien Dahrk?

MERICLE: He has knowledge of Damien from the League, that some of our team members are not going to have. He’ll help them, in that way, but by the same token, it feels like he could ally with Damien or he could ally with the team. He is able to play both sides, and it will be interesting to see what he has in store. We’re not sure. We feel like we have a lot of options on the table.

What made you want to contrast Oliver’s love life in the past and the present, with the flashbacks?

MERICLE: Yes, absolutely! It’s to see him in a relationship in the past and a relationship in the present, and contrast where he is. The flashbacks are going to be Oliver at his darkest place, but in the present day story, he’ll be at his happiest. It will be about, how did he get there and how did those really dark moments inform his decision to maintain his faith, despite everything that’s happening around him?

Thea has lost Roy Harper and her relationship with her father didn’t turn out how she’d hoped. What’s next for her?

MERICLE: This year, we’ve already hinted that she’s going to have some side effects from the Lazarus Pit, so she’s going to be grappling with that. And a little bit like in Season 1 with Oliver, she’s going to be dealing with this whole question of, how do I have a double life and what is that like? It will take her to some surprising places, emotionally.

What can you say about Mr. Terrific and his presence, this season?

MERICLE: Mr. Terrific, or Curtis Holt, is coming, and will be played by Echo Kellum. He’s just a genius. I don’t think we’ll see him morph into Mr. Terrific this season, but he’s somebody who brings a different tone and element, more in keeping with the lightness that we’re bringing into this season. He also is one of our only other LGBT characters, and we’re excited to have that on the show to explore those things, particularly through the prism of that character and with his relationship to Felicity and the team.

At an event associated with the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Beverly Hills, California, we spoke with Arrow Executive Producer Wendy Mericle about what to expect from the show’s upcoming fourth season. You can see our talk about the strong women of Arrow here — but the night before, we also asked some more general questions about Season 4, including Oliver Queen’s happiness, some new characters coming in, Nyssa, Diggle and more.

Arrow Season 4 premieres October 7, 2015 on The CW, and the interview follows below

GREENARROWTV’s CRAIG BYRNE: How is the world of the Green Arrow and the other characters changing as the season begins?

WENDY MERICLE: Oliver’s in a much happier place. He went off at the end of Season 3 with Felicity, and he’s happy. I would say that’s the biggest change — we kind of wrapped up the three years of Oliver coming back from the island, PTSD, on this dark mission… we’re still going to have dark missions, and the show is not going to change that much — we’re not going to become Flash — but he’s going to be happy, and we’re going to see what it’s like for him to have a relationship with Felicity and still being a superhero.

As we see him becoming happier in the present day, will his flashbacks get more dour?

Yes. Exactly. That’s kind of the idea, is that he’s going to be down in the flashbacks, and reaching probably his lowest point, as he’s reaching his happiest place in the present day.

You have a number of new characters coming on the show. Can you talk about some that might excite people?

I love Curtis Holt. I think he is amazing, and Echo Kellum… we’re all seeing dailies and seeing cuts, and he’s just phenomenal. It’s nice to have a different feel on the show; it gives Felicity somebody else to have banter with… and also, [it’s nice] to have another LGBT on the character on the show other than Nyssa.

Speaking of Nyssa, will she be part of Season 4?

Absolutely. Yeah. Even though we have left Nanda Parbat, she’s going to be a part of the season.

[Sadly, she won’t be a series regular.]

There was a really cute picture on Instagram recently of Katrina Law (Nyssa) and Echo Kellum (Curtis). Could those characters become BFF’s or something?

Oh, that’s an interesting thing. We hadn’t actually thought about that, but that’s a great idea! [Laughs]

Can you talk about what’s coming up for Diggle?

A lot is coming up for Diggle. This is a big Diggle year. He is going to be a bigger part of the team when we start off the season. He’s the new de facto leader of the team. We’re going to see him kicking ass and out in the field a lot this year. You saw at Comic-Con, he’s going to get him own whole mask and get-up, and we’re going to give him a very cool code name, which I can only tease. I can’t tell you what it is.

How quickly will issues like Sara Lance and Ray Palmer be covered?

Out of the gate. We’re going to come out of the gate strong with that stuff. Somewhat for story, but also, we’re tied to the launch [of Legends of Tomorrow] in January, so we’re working hard on getting those characters.

Are Ray and Felicity characters that could be okay as just friends now?

Absolutely. We left them in a sort of sad place — I mean, I think Ray felt particularly heartbroken. Felicity, she got to go off with Oliver — but we are actually working right now where we deal with the ramifications of her decision, and they end in a very good place.

Will we be seeing Vixen on Arrow in live action?

That’s a really interesting question. I think we all would love to see that character brought on to the show. We’re doing magic this season, so she’d be a natural fit. We don’t have any immediate plans for it, but the show on Seed is something we’re all very excited about and invested in.

How excited are you to have become a showrunner on Arrow for Season 4?

It’s very exciting, and one thing I’ll say is it’s amazing going to Comic-Con and really experiencing first-hand, just how much the fans love the show. It makes me just that much more excited to hopefully give them a show that they will love.

"BLACK CANARY" (Katie Cassidy):

(Full Panel)

Y a veces contesto y él dice 'No estaba hablanco contigo, compañero'".
