Having just wrapped his forthcoming — and mysterious — appearance on “Supergirl,” Kevin Sorbo was more than happy to sit down and chat with us about that process, his theories on how “Hercules” paved the way for today’s action and superhero megahits, and more.

The 58-year-old actor plays the husband of recently announced guest star Teri Hatcher. “I just finished shooting — I got back from Canada yesterday, and it was really great. Teri and I had a fantastic time working together,” the actor told us Saturday, Feb. 25.

“It’s funny because [“Lord of the Rings” director] Peter Jackson once said that Hercules really catapulted this whole thing on TV, with action shows. We started with ‘Herc,’ then spun off ‘Xena,’ then spun off ‘Young Hercules’ — with a 20-year-old Ryan Gosling! Then all these people tried to copy that show — ‘Sinbad,’ ‘Tarzan,’ ‘Conan,’ ‘Robin Hood.’ Ever since then, and because of their success, [we get] all these action movies and Marvel comic book characters.”

“I think people want to have an escape,” Sorbo added, explaining the success of such shows. “People like to fantasize and escape reality, because there’s so much crap in the world.”

The “Andromeda” star spent seven years in New Zealand playing the lead in “Hercules: The Legendary Journey,” as well as guest starring on its spin-off, “Xena: Warrior Princess.” While he treasured his time Down Under, he admits to being miffed he hasn’t been invited back for further projects from the “Hercules” team.

“I loved it down there — I lived there for seven years, on the lake in Takapuna in Auckland, and I miss it,” Sorbo told us. “I’ve been back for a couple of Comic-Cons, but other than that… And it’s funny, because the same group of guys that did ‘Hercules’ are now doing ‘Ash vs Evil Dead,’ and they did ‘Spartacus’ before that. And they didn’t have me back down once! I was going, ‘Really?’ I actually emailed the producers. I think they’re kind of jerks not to bring me back down again… I do.” Harsh words from Hercules — although he followed up, “But I’ve been busy, so I can’t complain…”

And he certainly has. As well as a steady stream of film and TV gigs since wrapping the hit series, Sorbo has voiced several video games and worked behind the scenes as a producer. He has a Christmas movie coming other later this year, “Let There Be Light,” and he’s working hoard on a series of shorts poking fun at “how ridiculous political correctness has become.”

A regular on the convention circuit, Sorbo and his wife, Sam Jenkins, also have three children — who keep him on his toes. We met with him at the pre-Oscars “Celebrity Connected” gifting suite at the Millennium Biltmore in LA, and he was more than a little intrigued by one of the sneakier items, a GPS watch from iStaySafe: “My favorite thing from today is this tracking watch — I’ve got three kids, so I’m going to secretly give it to one of my teenagers, so I know where the heck he is,” laughed Sorbo, adding that his eldest is “already starting to” get into trouble.

“This thing has an emergency call button, so it would be easy to keep in touch with where my kids are and what they’re doing.”

Seems like everything with Kevin Sorbo is exactly where we left it: The Raimi jab, as well as the preoccupations with surveillance and “political correctness,” are all classic Sorbo moves. And while we missed out on getting hear the latest conspiracy theories, we’ll always have this very forthright podcast to remind us exactly where he stands on topics like religious freedom, persecution, and who’s really in charge of Hollywood.

This Monday on Supergirl (The CW, 8/7c), secrets and lies prove to be kryptonite to two nascent relationships.

Barely weeks into their star-crossed romance, Kara will discover Mon-El’s connection to a pair of Daxamite newcomers, played by Teri Hatcher (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules). Winn, similarly, meanwhile will discover a not-so-little something about Starhavenite girlfriend Lyra.

Can either coupling survive its trust-rattling reveal?

Previewing the bombshell dropped on Kara, Melissa Benoist tells TVLine, “The way she finds out the truth is not the way she would want to find out — and not just because it’s a secret Mon-El (Chris Wood) has kept from her this whole time.”

Instead, Kara stumbles upon her beau’s sin of omission in perhaps the worst way possible, and as a result, “Tensions are high,” Benoist says. After all, “Daxamites and Kryptonians don’t really get along. Kara and Mon-El found common ground through the kindness in their hearts, but [the new arrivals] are much more set in their ways, so it’s difficult.”

As for how Mon-El’s ties to these nefarious newcomers impacts the special something he finally got going with the Girl of Steel, Benoist warns, “It’s definitely a wrench in the gears.”

Winn, at least, is in the midst of an adventurous tryst with his own sweetheart-from-outer space when he comes to realize that Lyra is a thief of the grand variety. “She uses Winn to break into an art museum, saying, like, ‘Hey we’re just gonna have fun’ — and they do have fun,” Jeremy Jordan shares with a smile. But when Lyra (Tamzin Merchant) uses her extraterrestrial ability to avoid detection by security cameras to pinch a priceless painting, it’s Winn who is left holding the bag.

“Winn is feeling very deceived by Lyra, somebody he’s put his full trust in and fallen very fast and very hard for,” Jordan says, adding: “It goes down a pretty dark path. Winn and Lyra’s future is definitely up in the air after this big deception.”

If there’s any silver lining, Jordan points out, “I get a couple really fun scenes with Floriana [Lima],” as Maggie does her best — though it may not be good enough — to keep Alex’s DEO colleague out of the clink.

As their respective romances threat to get derailed, might Kara and Winn find cause to “compare notes”? “There is a really nice connection between Winn and Kara in the episode,” Jordan says, “which we don’t see a lot of anymore, after the whole thing happened last year with Winn kissing her and telling her how he really felt. Their friendship survived, but inevitably changed. “But by the end of the episode, they do have something to really connect with — this idea of being betrayed and double-crossed.”

Surveying the two friends’ respective evolution over a season-and-a-half, he says, “Winn’s grown up a lot. He went from this goofy, kind of scatterbrained, scared kid to someone who has a lot of confidence and has become much more grounded — a source of humanity for a lot of our characters who need a reality check.” Kara meanwhile “has in a sense grown more wary, from a wide-eyed kind of girl to a hardened crime-fighter. We’ll see how Winn and Kara handle their situations very differently” — before, of course, things take a musical turn, and this week’s crossover with The Flash gets underway.

At this year’s PaleyFest, which connects fans with the cast and creators of their favorite TV shows through panel presentations, our own Christina Radish was able to catch up with producer Andrew Kreisberg before the panel about some of what is to come on Supergirl. In tonight’s “Star Crossed,” Kara (Melissa Benoist) finds out that Mon-El (Chris Wood) is actually a prince of Daxam, not the bodyguard of a prince as he had told Kara previously. When he parents arrive (played by Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo), the new couple are forced to confront some uncomfortable realities about their relationship in the wake of these revelations.

As we’ve seen in the past, Kara doesn’t usually respond very well to people keeping things from her, and Kreisberg confirmed that the same will be true when it comes to Mon-El’s secret:

It’s interesting because we talked a lot about it. If Mon-El were here, he’s say, “It’s not like I killed somebody!” But Kara holds herself and other people to a high standard, and that lie really hit her. That’s what’s so great about the musical episode. Barry and Kara find themselves at the lowest points in their relationships, and the musical gives them the chance to examine that and decide how they want to go forward.

But for fans who might be worried if this will tear Kara and Mon-El apart, Kreisberg also has reassured us that any clarity Kara gets from the musical crossover with The Flash won’t be a hindrance to her budding romance — even despite having to deal with Mon-El’s Daxamite family (and we know that the two have clashed over family issues before):

It’s complicated. We love Mon-El and we love Chris Wood. The chemistry between Chris and Melissa, on screen, is amazing. We think they’re such a great couple. Whatever is coming down the pike, they’re gonna face it together.

For “Karamel” fans (of which I am most certainly one), this is great news.

Supergirl airs Monday nights on The CW, and Kara will also be joining Barry Allen in the musical crossover “Duet” on Tuesday night.

Supergirl officially unveiled who Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo are playing during Monday’s episode — and it’s safe to say, they’re not big fans of the Girl of Steel.

When their mysterious spaceship arrived above Earth, Kara (Melissa Benoist) went to investigate, only for them to open fire on Supergirl. The inhabitants of the ship wanted one thing: Mon-El (Chris Wood), whom they’d use a tractor beam to bring aboard. But Kara tags along on the trip, discovering their true identities: Rhea (Hatcher) and Lar-Gand (Sorbo), the king and queen of Daxam — and Mon-El is the prince!

“Kara’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop in terms of relationships,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells EW. “It took her such a long time to open herself up to Mon-El, and then was just starting to feel comfortable when she finds out that he’s been lying to her for these eight months.”

It doesn’t help that the Daxamites and Kryptonians are basically the Hatfields and McCoys — sworn enemies who could never see eye-to-eye — which leads to a pretty disastrous family dinner once aboard the ship. “It was one thing when she thought he was just a lowly guard on Daxam and was as much a victim of the tyrannical rule of the king and queen and prince,” Kreisberg says. “But then she finds out he was the prince, and that he was more of a perpetrator than a victim, and all of the great character strides he has made evaporate for her because she’s so put off by the truth.”

“It’s really heartbreaking,” Kreisberg continues, “because he really has changed. He really has grown and become a different person. But for Kara, it’s in the catchphrase, ‘Truth, Justice, and the American Way,’ it’s so important to her. It unravels their relationship as quickly as it began… and it really puts her whole worldview into dire straits.”

Suffice it to say, Kara and Mon-El are on the outs at the moment, which is made more complicated by the arrival of the Music Meister (Darren Criss), who whammies the Girl of Steel, trapping her in a movie musical that will be featured during The Flash on Tuesday. More details here.

In the meantime, Benoist teases that the Daxamites are very different villains than what we’ve seen with Cadmus. “They have an entirely different set of motives,” Benoist says. “They want their son back, and they have a completely different way of life on Daxam that wasn’t exactly morally sound. Cadmus has a very clear directive of what they want and how they’re going to do it, and it’s humans against aliens, and with Daxamites, it’s scary because it’s aliens against aliens, a lot like Non and Astra, and a powerful woman in Mon-El’s mother.”

“What’s interesting about Rhea is that she’s a calculating customer,” Kreisberg adds. “She’s very bright and believes in her own right to authority and really believes in this second chance that she thinks her planet has in finding Mon-El. The Daxamites who survived the cataclysm from Krypton’s explosion were scattered to the far ends of the universe, and she really believes that bringing Mon-El back, signaling a continuation of the ruling family and the new blood of the return of the favorite son, can really unite the planet. So she’s torn between her desire to reclaim her throne and her love for her son.”

Her love for Mon-El is exactly why Rhea is not a fan of Kara. “The big thing we talk about, as far as Rhea and Kara, is that it’s a little bit of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, where you have the theocracy, these slave-owners, these people who believe in power, whose son they believe is like-minded has been corrupted.”

I'm wet, my throat hurts from yelling, it's colder when you have a buzz cut and frankly I'd rather be in front of fire or Netflix (or both really). But as I was coming back from the bathroom I noticed a group of fans watching us do what we do. And I realized they're just as cold and wet as I am but they're mood was uplifting. They were all smiling looking at our set. So I did what any weird ass actor would and snuck up on them and asked them what they were filming across the street. They all turned around and were speechless but extremely kind and polite. It touched me that people love our show so much they're willing to stand out in the wet and cold just to get a glimpse of us. To put it simply they make all the tough days worth it. Thank you for the reminder.

Parece que Lena Luthor va a quedarse alrededor. La actriz Katie McGrath, quien ha sido recurrente en esta temporada de de "Supergirl", ha sido promovida a personaje regular para la próxima Season 3, que fue recientemente anunciada por la CW.

McGrath interpreta a 'Lena Luthor', la hermana pequeña de Lex Luthor, quien llegó a National City para escaparse de la sombra se su famoso hermano.

McGrath fue introducida por primera vez en el cuarto episodio de la Season 2 y hasta el momento ha aparecido en 7 episodios del drama de la CW.

Even though Mon-El told his parents to pack up and leave Earth, well, they’re not going to, and the threat of the Daxamites looms large on Supergirl.

It seems like suspicious timing, then, that a bounty should be put out on Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) head during Monday’s episode. “Supergirl thinks she can handle anything, so it doesn’t phase her at first, but they quickly realize it’s a lot more dangerous than they think,” Benoist tells EW.

Whether the Daxamites are responsible for the bounty or not — Cadmus is still out there, too! — costar David Harewood cautions that Rhea (Teri Hatcher) and Lar-Gand (Kevin Sorbo) are not to be trifled with. “These are serious people, and perhaps the strongest villains that we’ve seen on the show so far, so it’s not just an individual that we’re fighting, it’s a whole planet full of people,” Harewood says. “This isn’t just one bad guy, it’s a whole bad guy army.”

The hour also features the return of Lynda Carter as President Marsdin. Last seen in the third episode, POTUS was revealed to have a secret as it appeared she could possibly be an alien herself — one who could shape-shift. It would possibly explain why Marsdin was so intent on signing the Alien Amnesty Act. “We’re definitely going to learn a little more about who or what she is, which we’re excited about,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. “Lynda is so lovely, and it’s not often in life you get to meet your heroes and have them turn out to be as charming, giving, gracious, and wonderful as you would hope that they would be, but Lynda is all that and more.”

Supergirl airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
