- Nueva candid de Kristin en Toronto (13-06-18):
(@mskristinlkreuk: Hi all:) June's book! "Priestdaddy" by Patricia Lockwood. A memoir that is hilarious and truthful with language that is surprising and unexpected. The characters that comprise the Lockwood family took over my home for a few days, and I was sad to see them go. It was so hard to pick a passage to post as I loved and highlighted many... also, everything in this book is likely to irk at least one individual, but the following passage really resonated:
"I know all women are supposed to be strong enough to strangle presidents and patriarchies between their powerful thighs, but it doesn't work that way. Many of us were actually affected, by male systems and male anger, in ways we cannot always articulate or overcome. Sometimes, when the ceiling seems especially low and the past especially close, I think to myself, I did not make it out. I am still there in that place of diminishment, where that voice an octave deeper than mine is telling me what I am. Before I turned thirteen, I had never been part of the class that my father called empty-headed and addressed as "dollface," that our church seemed to see as just bodies. I was simply myself, unique and irreducible. Suddenly I became female, and it was as if a telescope I had been looking through--with a clear eye, up at an unbounded night of stars--had been viciously turned on me. I went to a pinpoint. Does God exist was never a question for me then; do I exist took up the whole of my mind." -Patricia Lockwood)

- Kristin Kreuk, nuevas candids de la actriz en Winnipeg (11-19 Agosto 2019):
(@mskristinlkreuk: Fridayyyyy! Coffeeeeeeee!!! Though I LOVE Winnipeg and it feels like a second home for me right now, I am feeing slightly homesick. One of the best parts of my job is that I get to settle in to other places and get a feel for them and the people who live there--I develop new routines, patterns, haunts, friends... but there is always a point somewhere in the middle when I get antsy for normalcy. This is that point
@MTLGemma: So great running into #Smallville and Buren of Proof actress, @MsKristinKreuk at the @Wpg_Goldeyes baseball game yesterday! #onlyinthepeg)

- Nuevas candids de Kristin en Toronto (07-09-18):
(@mskristinlkreuk: Since I have been in Winnipeg, I haven't been getting my monthly book presents (I got an amazing gift of monthly book presents for a year that I have been sharing here). Labour Day long weekend in Toronto meant I got July and August's books. And my text books for the fall semester of school(!!!!!!!). So much excitement. So many thrills. So whilst procrastinating line learning, I finished both the books. .
.
'West' by Carys Davies is a teeny tiny novel that still feels like an epic western. Although it was my least favorite of all the books I've received thus far, I still enjoyed it. .
.
'Florida' by Lauren Groff. I loved this book. So much. These are gorgeously written stories of characters bound together by the specificity of place. "...I touched this gentle man whom I love so desperately and somehow fear so much, touched him on the pulse in his temple and felt his dreams, which are too distant for the likes of me; and I climbed the creaking old stairs and at the top split in two, and heading into the boys' separate rooms, I slid through the crack under the doors and curled myself on the pillows to breathe into me the breath that my children breathed out. Every pause between the end of one breath and the beginning of the next is long; then again, nothing is not always in transition. Soon, tomorrow, the boys will be men, then the men will leave the house, and my husband and I will look at each other crouching under the weight of all that we wouldn't or couldn't yell, as well as all those hours outside walking together, my body, my shadow, and the moon. It's is terribly true, even if the truth does not comfort, that if you look at the moon for long enough might after night, as I have, you will see that the old cartoons are correct, that the moon is, in fact, laughing. But it is not laughing at us, we lonely humans, who are far too small and our lives far too fleeting for it to give us any notice at all.")

- Nuevas candids de Kristin en Toronto (06-30 Diciembre 2018):
(@mskristinlkreuk: Finally finished the semester and got to my September book, "Assassination Vacation" by Sarah Vowell, a fun romp into a few presidential assassinations. Now I only have October, November, and December's books to get to before winter semester starts in January. A short excerpt regarding the strange coincidence of the presence of one of Lincoln's sons near the assassinations of multiple presidents: "...Friends, these creepy historical flukes offer momentary relief from the oppression of chaos and that is not nothing. They give order to the universe. They give meaning. Of course, life is still pretty meaningless and death is the only true democracy. But Robert Todd Lincoln, huh? Weird."
@mskristinlkreuk: Throwback!!
@mskristinlkreuk: October's book. "Heartbreaker" by Claudia Dey. This story was brimming with love and family and sadness and the invisible gravity that pulls the ones we love, the ones who matter, into orbit. I couldn't find an excerpt that wouldn't spoil the story. So, this is a book about a girl whose mother disappears from a strange, isolated, insular community and the people (and dog-no really, there is a chapter from the dog's pov) who are desperate to find her. It's funny and poignant. I recommend. Backstory: I was given a gift of a book a month selected with me in mind. And I am behind due to school. Hence, October
@phoolanthemovie: Phoolan's story will be told in the film through her own words in Voice Over. Today we did a temporary Voice Recording with the Canadian star (and an Executive Producer of the project), Kristin Kreuk!)
