Seamos objetivos, por más que quisiéramos ver a Tom de Superman en el cine, Nolan y su gente harán su propia versión, por lo que escogerán a otro actor. Aparte que si fuese Tom, entonces mucha gente esperaría ver a Erica también y la película basada en Smallville, Christopher Nolan no va a hacer un film basado en un show de TV, sería atarse las manos desde un punto de vista creativo, me parece evidente.

“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

Still, it was a frustrating moment in the Batman franchise that led to this new Superman revival. Nolan and Goyer, a key collaborator on both Batman films, were at a story impasse on the third Batman film (which is now picking up steam as well) when, as a distraction, Goyer gave the filmmaker a daydream version of how he would tackle a story about the last son of Krypton.

“He basically told me, ‘I have this thought about how you would approach Superman,’” Nolan recalled. “I immediately got it, loved it and thought: That is a way of approaching the story I’ve never seen before that makes it incredibly exciting. I wanted to get Emma and I involved in shepherding the project right away and getting it to the studio and getting it going in an exciting way.”

Bueno pues vamos con algunas noticias... Esta vez, con las últimas ocasiones en las que se ha visto a Tom...

Por un lado, Tom fue visto en Martha´s Vineyard (donde tiene una casa) aprovechando sus últimos días de descanso tomándose un capuccino en el "Beetlebung Coffee House", según informaron el el "Boston Herald":

“Smallville” stud Tom Welling, a Vineyarder in the summer, sipping a cappuccino at the Beetlebung Coffee House in Vineyard Haven".

Y también ha sido visto junto al actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, The Prince of Persia), el conocido boxeador Sugar Ray Leonard y Rob Douglas (dueño de la cadena Black Dog) divirtiéndose en el show de Lenny Clarke en Edgartown

Bueno, ya se le terminaron las vacaciones, hoy de nuevo al trabajo...

Bueno, supongo que sabréis que ya cuando se habló de hacer la película de "Supermán Returns", Tom se barajó como uno de los actores para encarnar a Supermán en la gran pantalla, pero no pudo aceptar por problemas con los compromisos con Smallville.

Ahora de nuevo se va a hacer una nueva película que casi con total seguridad será dirigido por Christopher Nolan (el director de las últimas secuelas de Batman) y de nuevo Tom ha apuntado ser uno de los candidatos al papel.

Personalmente creo que no hay nadie mejor que él para protagonizarla, no sólo por los años que lleva interpretándola y lo mucho que conoce su papel, sino por ser la cara más familiar posible para el personaje. Creo que pocos serán capaces de imaginar a un Supermán actualmente sin asociarlo a su imagen.

Pero no soy la única que piensa así. No es sólo mi "debilidad" manifiesta por Tom la que me impulsa a pensar en él como el canditato perfecto, sino que son muchos los rumores que llevan señalándole desde hace años cada vez que se menciona cualquier proyecto relacionado con el héroe y esta vez no iba a ser menos...

A couple of days back, GeekTyrant reported a salacious little bit suggesting Jonah Nolan was up for directing duties on the new ''Superman'' movie. An easy enough rumour to swallow too, if you ask me - after all, besides the fact that Jonah Nolan's brother Chris is attached to produce the 2012 Man of Steel re-rinse, Jonah himself is already working at WB - as a writer on another high-profile superhero flick, ''Batman 3''.

Still, that didn't stop a couple of sites from suggesting the aforementioned report was merely supposition... or codswallop.

For a couple of days now I've been working on getting some kind of confirmation... Or even a response... from someone at the studio (not necessarily those working on ''Superman'') regarding the rumours. Now I'm not just talking about trying to touch base with the PR department there, I'm talking about getting some sort of inside response from a desk jockey. Some of you may recall that I was developing a film at Warner Bros a couple of years ago (before abandoning it to work on a couple of smaller, less ambitious projects like ''Complacent'' and ''Cowboy Charm'')? well, I made quite a few friends in my time there, and while I haven't kept in touch with everyone from my Burbank stretch (some have moved on to other companies, and so forth), there is a select few that I do play phone hooky with every month or so. And I thought at least one of them might be privy to some info on the tentpole - and I was right.

Late this afternoon I hopped on the phone with a contact who shed some light on the J. Nolan rumours.

"You know, some of that is true", my very reliable* contact, said ."Jonathan Nolan is not onboard yet, but it looks like he will get the job. Jonah wants to direct, Chris wants to land him that gig, WB doesn't want to upset Chris. That said, it is far from a done deal -- but with Chris and Emma producing, the odds are with Jonah - kind of like Michael Mann producing his daughter's first feature: "How bad could things go?"".

"Also, it is a TV star that they're looking at for the lead - but, despite what that article says, I don't believe anyone has actually tested." (He/She has heard nothing of Zachary Levi being considered).

So there you have it, Nolan is the frontrunner for the job.

Sorry? What? Oh, you want to know which "TV star" is currently atop of the WB wishlist?

Says our insider, "[He's a] popular TV actor that no one is thinking of, but everyone will be thrilled with if he pulls on the blue tights"

Your first guess is likely the right one.

Still, the film's director also has a say - and he's yet to be officially appointed, let alone begun meeting with actors, so anyone could end up in the suit. Still, the studio does have their favourite at the moment.

(So, definitely no Brandon Routh, then? ''Certain very well-placed people at Warners loved Brandon Routh as Superman and wished he was continuing in the role, but unfortunately, he won't be back". But we knew that, right?)

My contact followed-up the phone call with an email later in the day, just to kindly ask if I could remove some names from the piece, and to suggest we also don't refer to the new film as a reboot because... "This Superman is neither a reboot or a sequel. It's just a Superman film. The basic elements of the storyline are: BIG action, BIG set-pieces, witty dialogue, playful romance, a light-hearted feelgood mood juxtaposed with derring-do and danger, top-notch cast, epic feel, sci-fi background (sounds a little like Donner, right?) BUT with some sort of huge twist on the legend."

Huge twist, hey? Shit, hopefully we're not talking Penguins with machine-guns!?

And that's all our contact has... for the moment. But I think that's enough to suggest that while nothing is solid at the moment, the concrete is being poured.

* This source has been spot-on before - he/she let us know, for instance, that Liev Schreiber was joining the cast of "Salt" (which we ran about a week before Variety confirmed it) and that Teresa Palmer had been cast in the now-abandoned "Justice League" (again, before the trades announced it). There's actually been quite a few other occasions - he/she has slipped us solid info on "Lethal Weapon 5" and "Fury Road", for instance - where this person has been spot-on.

Yo es que lo he dicho siempre y se lo dije a él en mi carta de "Gratitude Proyect". Para mi Tom Welling és el Supermán de nuestra generación y el único. Por muchos actores que pasen por el cine interpretando a Supermán, para mi ( y supongo que para muchos) siempre seguirá siéndolo Tom. Cuando pienso, veo, o leo cualquier cosa relacionada con Supermán, el hombre que automáticamente aparece en mi cabeza és Tom, el Clark Kent de Smallville. Es gracias a él que he conocido la apasionante historia de Supermán, ya que antes de que se estrenara la serie hace unos años, tengo que confesar que no sabía apenas nada de este héroe. Es Tom el que ha sabido transmitirme a la perfección la verdadera esencia de este personaje y como se ha sentido en cada momento, y me ha hecho amarlo por sus valores y su forma de ser.

De todo corazón espero que finalmente sea Tom el que lo interprete. Es el candidato perfecto para ser Supermán en esa película, ya que se ha ganado ese título sobradamente durante estos 9 años que lleva interpretándolo en Smallville y nadie lo va a hacer mejor que él.
Así que cualquier cosa que se haga, campañas, firmas, etc., ahí estaré para apoyar. Lo que sea para conseguir ver a NUESTRO SUPERMÁN en la gran pantalla.

Cuando pienso, veo, o leo cualquier cosa relacionada con Supermán, el hombre que automáticamente aparece en mi cabeza és Tom, el Clark Kent de Smallville. Es gracias a él que he conocido la apasionante historia de Supermán, ya que antes de que se estrenara la serie hace unos años, tengo que confesar que no sabía apenas nada de este héroe. Es Tom el que ha sabido transmitirme a la perfección la verdadera esencia de este personaje y como se ha sentido en cada momento, y me ha hecho amarlo por sus valores y su forma de ser.

Casi me pasa exactamente lo mismo que a tí. Antes de empezar a ver la serie pues claro conocía el personaje de Superman, lo típico que tiene poderes, su amor es Lois Lane, la k-verde le debilita, etc. Viendo en alguna ocasión "Las aventuras de Lois y Clark" o las pelis de "Superman" pues me gustaba pero fue ver Smallville y empezar a engancharme de verdad en esto. Yo he crecido viendo Smallville y a Tom interpretando Clark Kent, ahora mismo no puedo imaginarme a otro actor interpretándolo en la nueva película. De "Superman Returns" no quiero ni hablar me pareció aburridísima, los actores no tenían nada de química y Lex carecía de maldad...

Yo estoy dudando si a Tom le ofrecen la oportunidad de interpretar a Clak, ¿él aceptaría?. Lo digo porque alomejor eso le encasilla como actor y él no estaría dispuesto a eso.Ojalá y acepte, de verdad! pero yo tengo ese dilema con Tom...
Después estaría el tema de Lois, ¿sería interpretado por Erica?

Estoy segura que si cuentan con Tom y Erica en el film sería un exitazoooooo en el mundo!!

Tom Welling, who plays Superman/Clark Kent on the long-running CW television series, “Smallville,” hopes to be more than just a superhero.

“Smallville,” which launched in 2001, is scheduled to go off the air after its tenth season. But Welling, who started his career as a construction worker, doesn’t plan on stopping. He went from being a little-known model and actor to one of the bigger names on television, and is now doing some directing as well.

After the “Smallville” event at Comic-Con yesterday, he answered some questions from Speakeasy about what his plans are now that the show is entering its tenth and final season.

What are your plans after this — more science fiction? And are you going to focus on acting or directing?

Tom Welling: I sort of subscribe to the idea of no limitations. I want to do it all - I know that there are some people who since I’ve been doing the creating and directing and producing of another show, “Hellcats,” and working over there simultaneously with “Smallville,” some people are like, “oh he doesn’t want to act anymore” but that would be a mistake. At my core I still want to act, I’ve just also been trying to, you know, take advantage of all of the opportunities I have and create some more cool things.

How does it feel to have gone from a relatively little-known actor to being this generation’s Superman?

I’m not sure, It’s kind of like…maybe it’s an eye of the storm sort of thing, it feels good, it feels great to be at Comic-Con in front of 6,000 people and see how much what you do excites them and makes them happy– I mean that’s a wonderful feeling.

Votado hablando sobre la película si la hace Tom la tiene que hacer también Erica (o los dos o niguno) la verdad es que lo veo dificil, supongo que es más facil que lo hagan actores que nada tengan que ver con el tema, pero bueno no hay que perder las esperanzas
