En el foro NeoGaf, un usuario llamado Verendus ha realizado una larga y completa crítica de Man of Steel tras de verla en un screening privado. Obviamente contiene algunos spoilers, así es que leédla bajo vuestra responsabilidad:
La vi hace un par de semanas, la verdad es que por accidente. Tuve que sacrificar ver un adelanto de otra cosa, pero me alegro de decir que no me arrepiento. Mantendré mis impresiones tan libres de spoilers como sea posible.
No soy fan del cómic, para que lo sepáis. Mi conocimiento de Superman es de las películas originales de Donner, y luego de los dibujos de la Justice League. También, ¡sigue siendo un cobarde, esta película no cambia eso!
La película es buena y entretenida. No creo que use la hipérbole de llamarla la mejor película del año dentro de 2 meses, pero está en un top-cinco, si no un top-tres, de las películas de superhéroes. Imagino que los fans de Superman van realmente a adorarla, a menos que a algunos no les guste esta caracterización de Clark Kent/Superman. Y si no les gusta, no sé qué decir. Creo que es la mejor versión live action de Superman y hace un gran trabajo haciendo al personaje cercano. Sólo para que conste, considero Batman Begins la guinda del pastel y la mejor película de superhéroes.
Para los fans de la trilogía de Batman de Nolan, llegaréis a esto rápidamente, como me pasó a mí. Se siente muy similar a una película de Nolan. Supongo que esto no debería sorprender estando Nolan involucrado, pero pensaba que su implicación no sería tan grande, supuestamente. De todos modos, se siente genuinamente muy similar en el estilo en cuanto a la narrativa. Con la que guarda más parecido es con Batman Begins. Tampoco es una sorpresa ya que también es una historia de origen, pero también está firmemente contada, lo que es el punto clave. No va tan deprisa como Batman Begins, pero sigue teniendo un ritmo realmente bueno. Como en Batman Begins, es una historia más reservada y más centrada en el personaje, pero también tiene elementos cómicos. Diría que es ligeramente menos seria y con los pies en la tierra que aquella película.
La historia es simple, y mejor ejecutada. Básicamente se nos presenta a Clark Kent como un chico/hombre pasando por cambios y teniendo un conflicto interno sobre su identidad. Este arco del personaje tiene una resolución en dos pasos. El primero es él dándose cuenta de su rol como un potencial protector de la humanidad, un conflicto alimentado por varios eventos en su vida, lo que nos lleva al primer increíble y climático punto de la película con el nacimiento de Supermán. El segundo es la realidad de la existencia de Supermán en la humanidad y él reconciliándose con lo que eso siginifica para él y cómo es percibido. Obviamente esto nos lleva al clímax mayor de la película, apoyado por una zurra.
La acción en la película es genial. Hay una justa cantidad de ella. Se siente como en The Matrix. Con esto, quiero decir que está bastante por encima de lo normal. Esto es bueno, porque es Supermán. Hay un montón de pequeños detalles mostrados por Henry Cavill que nos dan más gravedad a la vulnerabilidad de Supermán. Momentos en que es conmovido o se queda estupefacto. Son momentos guays. La acción es tanto lenta como rápida, lo que da la sensación de que está ocurriendo algo superhumano. En términos de acción, hay como unas cuatro escenas claves. Luego hay muchos pequeños momentos de acción entre medias. Realmente se siente como si fuera la primera vez que se le ha hecho justicia a Superman en live action. Hay un momento cerca del final en el que dirás: "Joder, éste es Supermán". Es básicamente el momento climático. Tengo que volver a ver The Avengers, pero creo que disfruté la acción en esta película más que en ninguna otra de superhéroes porque tenía mucho peso por detrás.
Quieres que Superman triunfe.
Henry Cavill es Superman para mí ahora. Me gusta su versión del personaje. No me importa realmente demasiado cómo es Superman/Clark Kent en los cómics. Pero Henry ofrece una muy buena interpretación y trae un nuevo Superman a la era moderna. Uno que es poderoso, fuerte e inhumano en habilidades, pero también cercano y que se gana nuestra simpatía. Además, se ve muchísimo mejor con la barba. Hubiera sido increíble tener a un Superman con barba. Dejemos que lleve la cara afeitada como Clark Kent, pero cuando se vuelve todo masculino y se convierte en Supermán, que le crezca la barba instantáneamente también. Te acostumbras a ver a Clark sin barba, pero es muy raro. Como si hubiera nacido para llevarla.
Ademas, el maldito Zod es un cabronazo. Demasiado cabronazo. Sale con algunas frases memorables. Ni siquiera puedo...
El aspecto más débil de esta película es la relación Lois Lane/Clark Kent/Supermán. No creo que Amy Adams haya hecho una mala interpretación, pero en una película que es bastante centrada y sólida, este aspecto era el vínculo más flojo. Destaca. El personaje en sí está bien, y su pequeño equipo son un añadido muy satisfactorio, pero creo que no deberían haberlo hecho al estilo hollywoodiense y que hubieran dejado algo del desarrollo de la relación para una segunda película.
El reparto secundario es sólido. Kevin Costner está realmente bien. Es "Mi cocaína" (personaje con el Alfred de Michael Caine en Batman). No está mucho tiempo, pero quizá me gustan esos personajes paternales. También Morfeo siendo Morfeo y siendo guay de nuevo (refiriéndose a Laurence Fishbourne como Perry White).
La música es muy buena. Por momentos lenta y emocional, y otros dramática y épica. El nuevo tema es bueno. Diferente, pero bueno. Encaja con El Hombre de Acero.
Creo que elegí comparar esto con Batman Begins por varias razones. Se siente similar, está centrada en el personaje, y hace un trabajo fantástico en anticiparte la próxima película. Hay una buena mezcla de desarrollo serio de personajes y humor ligero en la película. Se dan pistas para los villanos de la secuela y es una primera incursión realmente fuerte. Definitivamente tengo curiosidad por ver qué ocurre con la secuela. Podrían hacer una película increíble como El Caballero Oscuro o que, como Iron Man 2, que resultara una porquería tras una primera película sólida. Quién sabe, pero tal y como está, habrá hipérbole cuando la gente vea esta película. Estoy seguro de ello. Eso es porque es buena, y una de las mejores películas de superhéroes. Y lo más importante, ha sacado a Supermán de ser ese cobarde que está siempre a la sombra del maldito Batman, a situarlo en un mismo nivel.
También, GRANDES SPOILERS NO LEER A MENOS QUE VUESTRO CORAZÓN ESTÉ LISTO PORQUE PODÉIS ARREPENTIROS:
No aparece Joseph Gordon Levitt en esta película. La experiencia más aliviante que he tenido viendo una película. ¿Por qué? Por que que le jodan a John Blake. Es un personaje de mierda. Aquellos rumores me tenían muy preocupado.
Creo que la Warner Bros tiene un éxito entre manos. No creo que otra película del billón de dólares esté fuera de cosideración si el boca a boca es bueno como creo que lo será. Si la película arrasa, también dejaremos de preocuparnos con Supermán en el futuro. Esto es todo lo bueno que puedes tener de una película de orígenes.
Además, ahora estoy más convencido que nunca de que WB no debería centrarse en la Justice League.
Batman y Superman es donde deberían. No malgasten tiempo con los demás. Es hora de reiniciar a Batman y hacer una película de equipo con estos dos. El universo de Man of Steel tiene una buena mezcla de elementos fantásticos en los que podríamos meter a Batman con toda su galería de villanos. Esta película sería rídiculamente enorme. Y lo más importante, con una película Batman/Superman todavía podrías traer lo que tanto Batman Begins como Man of Steel hacen mejor que ninguna otra película de superhéroes, que es ganarse tu compromiso emocional. Hay una oportunidad de hacer una gran película con una sólida historia y una acción asombrosa.
