Mexican newspaper El Norte reports that 20th Century Fox will film 85% of the Dragon Ball Z movie in Durango, Mexico under the direction of James Wong.
The production, expected to film in 2008, plans to use the Mexiquillo Forest, Marley Ranch, Hacienda la Providencia, La Joya Ranch, Laguna Seca de Santiaguillo and a forum from a Convention Center in the Culture Institute.
"Durango meets the needs in hotels, personnel, services like transportation, equipment, stunts, restaurants. This movie will provide the city with 750 jobs and an important flow of money," said Susana Elósegui Cross (Turism & Cinematography Director of Durango).
The sets will be constructed this month and shooting will begin in January and last through March. However, the movie cannot filmed completely in Durango, so they will move to Estado De México for some shots at Nevado de Toluca (an important volcano).
Durango was chosen by Ariel Shaw, the special FX director.
Dragon Ball Z is about a young boy called Goku. He faces Evil Vegeta, who tries to destroy the hero to prove that Goku is not the legendary warrior many believe he is.

) filmará el 85% de la película de Dragon Ball Z en Durango, Mexico, bajo la dirección de James Wong.
La producción, con expectativa de ser filmada en 2008, planea utilizar el bosque Mexiquillo, Marley Ranch, Hacienda la Providencia, La Joya Ranch, Laguna Seca de Santiaguillo y un foro de un Centro de Convención en el Instituto de Cultura.
"Durango conoce las necesidades en hoteles, personal, servicios como transporte, equipamiento, dificultades(o algo así, no acabo de poder traducir stunt), restaurantes. Esta película dotará a la ciiudad de 750 trabajos y un importante flujo de dinero", dijo Susana Elósegui Cross(Directora de Turismo y Cinematografía de Durango).
Los sets serán construidos este mes y el rodaje comenzará en Enero y durará aproximadamente hasta Marzo. Sin embargo, la película no puede ser filmada completamente en Durango, así que tendrán que moverse a Estado de Mexico para algunas tomas en Nevado de Toluca(un importante volcán).

It's Chatwin vs. Marsters in Dragon Ball Z

20th Century Fox has set Justin Chatwin (The Invisible, War of the Worlds) to play Goku and James Marsters ("Smallville," "Angel," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as the villain Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z.
In the big screen adaptation, Goku is a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name.
Actor/writer/director Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle) is producing. Final Destination helmer James Wong will direct from a script he wrote. Ben Ramsey wrote an earlier draft.
The story is based on Akira Toriyama's popular manga that has spawned graphic novels, a long-running TV series and more than 25 video games. The Jump Comics division of Tokyo-based Shueisha published the "Dragon Ball" manga.
With shooting scheduled to begin later this month, Fox will bow the sci-fi/adventure worldwide Aug. 15. Chatwin has already begun training with 87Eleven, the stunt performance company behind the action sequences in The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy,Mr. & Mrs. Smith and 300.
